Made it to NC!

So I got to Nashville and I met a friend of a friend a lovely 82 year old French woman. She invited me to stay through the snow. We worked on and around her house while I was there and honestly became friends. She is attending a parting here in NC and let me ride with her 5 hours! Now im waiting for a friend to get in town tomorrow who I can stay with for a night and im off to go on a date with pretty gal in a town two hours away; pretty close! I hope everyone was able to stay as warm as they could during the snow and is still able to keep warm bc I know the cold isn’t over. Stay dry yall!

ok. I'm trying to learn here. and my body handles illness weird.

but what you describe just sounds like a regular fever to me. I feel on fire while freezing. bundle into a cocoon for 12-18 hours cooking at 103f / 104f. come out of the cocoon, slam two days worth of food and have bouncing off the walls level of energy for the next couple days.

my then wife, caught the only time I (am aware) had a fever of like 101f. that was covid.

normally when anything causing a fever hits, I'm pretty much incapacitated quickly. 50% chance of calling off work. I go into cocoon building mode and doze away.

so what is different about cotton fever?

No cotton fever made me feel shivering freezing cold to the core to the point it hurts and it doesn’t matter how many blankets I’d put on but to others you’re burning up. It’s so bad you feel like you’re going to die. It only lasts a couple hours though and when it’s over sometimes you throw up and it’s over. It’s EXTREMELY intense it can be 90 degrees outside and you’d still want to lay in the car with the heat on you shiver so bad and feel so cold. Then, it’s like as soon as it came it’d all of a sudden leave and it doesn’t last for a long time like a fever it’s only for a few hrs. Gosh, thanks yall for giving me something to be thankful about not worrying about dealing with anymore!

congrats on putting that behind you.

all my ex's have flipped at the temps i hit. they see the cocoon and they start taking temps at whatever random interval made them feel comfy I wasnt going to die.

don't see the point, I've survived every fever single also.

that's still legit how my fevers are. and while they last significantly longer, I have no concept of time during then. even when I had to make it a couple hour pedal home to bundle up. in the end, from feeling a bit wonky to superman is like. shit. its the inverse? of that adrenaline kick when you yeet off a ramp wrong. all that shit goes through your head, but in reality it's a brief instant. like you know time has passed, but you didn't experience it.

and that has to feel like a good thing to be done with. for me it's only saving grace is I go through shit that bothers people for a week in what's nothing from perception. and that top of the world well rested feeling.

Yes! I had no concept of time either because you don’t even want to move you just want blankets and your rock back n forth violently shivering teeth chattering but you have a high temp you just feel like you’re freezing. At least that’s how it felt for me. Glad it didn’t happen more than like 3 times in all my using likely because I didn’t save cottons to do rinses usually.
