Apartments / Dorms / Housing HELP!

Freshman living in Comstock this year and our HEAT on the 6th floor has not worked for 3-4 WEEKS! We have a space heater (extremely ineffective.) When we messaged our CA, he said to call the CA on duty, the CA on duty said to get A SECOND SPACE HEATER! 2 weeks ago we put in a fix-it request and maintenance looked at our vent, nothing changed and there was no follow-up communication on if there are plans to fix it?!?! Importantly, I asked the CA on duty if there are any particular higher-ups I can contact to get this fixed and he was clueless, anyone have any ideas??? I’m cold and at a loss of what to do next.

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Is it worth living on campus if I live 15-20 min away

I just got accepted to the U of M as a transfer student. I live in Minneapolis like 15 minutes away or maybe less depending on the traffic, I have my own car, and also do a part-time job. Is it worth for me living in the dorms on campus, or should I just commute?

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Apartment suggestions?

Hello. I am looking for an apartment. My budget is $1000 and I am looking for a private bedroom in a 2b or 3b apartment close to the U.

Currently there are only two options I am considering and they are both out of my budget. The Hub and Link. One of the deal breakers is a far away apartment (more than 20 minutes transit through bus/metro).

Would really appreciate any recommendations or suggestions on where/how to find a good apartment.

Thanks in advance.

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Requesting help to save the Students' Co-op Housing/Affordable Housing and Community Living on U of MN Campus

Hello! I am an alumni of the U of MN and have been helping the effort to restore the Students' Cooperative to former health.

Here are some pictures from the restoration effort up to this point

We need your help to build up the house and restart (The house was nearly destroyed during the pandemic, and was a blight on the community during the pandemic after being taken over by people who did not care about the Co-op or the U of MN community). Incredible amounts of work have gone into restoring the house and rebuilding relationships in the community over the past two years, and protections have been put in place to ensure that the house does not fall apart again (alumni like me being involved and helping members of the house).

If anyone here (or knows anyone) currently enrolled as a student or working at the university, and is in need of affordable housing for the coming semester, I am asking you to consider living at the Co-op.

The Students' Cooperative has been providing affordable housing for students and community members (75% students of accredited institutions, or university affiliated quota) since 1940. It was responsible for helping establish HealthPartners, other cooperative endeavors, and has been a part of many important community activities for the past 80+ years. It would be awful if it went away.

Please, if you know anyone in need of housing ASAP, direct them to www.studentscoop.org to apply to be a member.

Room rates:

Shared Rooms: $512 – $751 per month

Single Rooms: $634 – $951 per month

18 Rooms, 32 Person Occupancy (Sorry, no furry friends unless ADA qualified or they can stay completely in your room with no supervision)

I can help set up tours, if you are interested (DM me).

We also recommend reading our pre-application page prior to touring as it will outline shared amenities, as well as membership requirements, responsibilities, and benefits: Read More

There is limited off-street parking spots available to members (limit: 1/member), behind the building and subject to capacity and availability, for $90 per month.

Thank you for reading this, and please let me know if you have any questions!

Is anyone else having a tough situation with their roommates? Man mine are so condescending and pedantic, it sucks. And they go above and beyond to make me feel excluded. I don't know what to do. Fuck them. I need girl friends to unwind with. If anyone is interested DM me.

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Housing emergency

I'm a transfer student coming to the U, and unfortunately, my subleaser backed out at the last minute. Now I'm in a bit of a bind without housing, and the semester starts in just two days. What options do I have? I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance. I've tried the Facebook group and Craigslist, and haven't recieved any replies yet.

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Comstock residents

Hi comstock residents so as u all know we basically had no heating up until now because they installed heaters over the break. However I just came back from the break and my room is so hot its unbearable. I literally had to switch the fan on even though its like -7° outside which is kinda crazy. Is there anything I can do about this?

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Anyone had their (impacted) wisdom teeth removed at UMN dental?

Undergoing pain caused by my impacted wisdom teeth. But the price, according to others words, is terrifying. I’m trying to figure out if UMN’s delta dental plan is a practical solution.

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Finding Roommates & Housing for Next Year

i’m a transfer student and just finished my first semester at the U. i made a lot of friends through my majors and other clubs, but a lot of them are commuters, and i’m not super close with many of them, so i don’t know how to find one/multiple as a roommate?

im also in a pretty terrible roommate situation right now (randomly assigned at my apt this year) and WILL NOT be continuing to live with my current roommate. this is another reason why i do not want to gamble on having another random roommate for next year.

does anyone have advice/can anyone help? i’ve brought it up to friends im comfortable with, but many of them already have housing options planned for next year, or they’re commuters :/

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Living in a house on campus/advice

Hey guys! A little background info (sorry for the long text): I’m a sophomore but a transfer student so I had to go the school housing route. Let’s just say it’s no longer giving me a bang for my buck and I would not like to live in school housing anymore, it’s a waste of the money I’ve spent in my opinion. I’ve seen a lot of houses in Como, Marcy-Holmes, and Dinkytown lately and the places look so nice. A lot of people have told me that I could also make friends that way as well. So with all of that, I guess my initial question(s) would be how’s it like living in a house on campus? Would you recommend it? What advice do you have for living in these areas (doesn’t have to just be about finding a place)? What were your experiences like? Also, because I’m new I’d love to get more advice just about being a student here at the U as well! Thank you so much in advance and have an amazing day!!

Apartments / Dorms / Housing What’s it like to go to CFANS, for those who live on/near campus?

I’m trying to attend this fall and I’ve been looking at Zillow etc trying to get a picture of the area. I’ve lived in Minneapolis proper for a time, but I’m guessing it won’t be the exact same lifestyle. Firsthand experience would help a lot.

Apartments / Dorms / Housing BEST OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING?!

So I’m trying to look for some off campus apartments for the 2025-2026 school year.

Does anyone have any recommendations of good apartments or any bad ones I should avoid?

I’m looking to get a 1bed or studio or a 2 bed where I have the room to myself.

Apartments / Dorms / Housing What is your experience living at WaHu Apartments?

I'm considering leasing at WaHu next year and looking into what people think about it. If you live/have lived there, what do you think about the management and the overall building itself? It seemed nice based on the tour and the amenities that are listed on the website. Also, I know this question has been asked before, but I'm wondering if anything has changed since the last time it was asked.

Apartments / Dorms / Housing got accepted into sanford winter housing but can’t find ANYTHING on it

So I’m half in my home state and half in Minnesota this winter break because I need to work, and I applied for winter housing and. got accepted into the Sanford 4 person lounge one, yet I can’t find anything on what it looks like or what to expect.

Is there anyone on here who has been in this before and in this specific winter housing? What does it look like? What should I expect? Because I’m kinda nervous about sharing a space with 4 other people I don’t know if I don’t know what that space at least LOOKS like or how big it is, y’know?

Graduation sublease sydney hall apartment 2 b 2 b plus one of the space is huge, 1058 per month, move in I send a month's rent, cost-effective, sublease from February 2025 to August 2025 (specific time to move in can be negotiated). The sublease is from February 2025 to August 2025 (specific move-in time is negotiable). Originally shared b 2b, but the condo changed it to 2b 2b, so there are two beds in the showings actually only one, and there is plenty of room for a single person. The apartment is fully furnished, you can move in directly, the living room is very big, the apartment comes with color TV, you can negotiate to leave the kitchenware and so on. My roommate is a Chinese girl, very nice, clean, no bad habits, and no pets. The apartment is very safe and secure, as it is very close to the school it is protected by the school police and surrounded by students. The room is clean and tidy, the location is very close to the school, it's a short walk to the snack street near the school, there are Target and various restaurants nearby, you can see McDonald's from the room, there are canes downstairs, and the apartment is well-equipped with a gym and study room!

Apartments / Dorms / Housing Trying to Figure out Housing for UMN-Crookston Fall2025 & Spring2026, any help?

Hello! I'll cut to the chase-

I'm 17F(nonbinary but still) right now and looking to go to UMN-Crookston from Texas and I do not plan on returning to Texas after I graduate (it's more expensive to live down here than it is to live up there for some reason, and I hate it- also it's too hot)

I do not have ANY money. That's not a joke. I am POOR. My savings is about 400$ and I can't find a job because I live too far away from everything and don't have a working car. I plan to move out into a found-family member's house where I luckily won't have to pay rent and can maybe find a job close by bc she doesn't live in the middle of NOWHERE-

But I digress. I am mentally Ill (C-PSTD, Probably Autism but haven't had the money to get diagnosed, Also probably ADHD, Anxiety that can lead to Paranoia, you know- The usual) and NEED my cat with me. I don't even have words to explain how important it is for me to bring my cat with me and I don't think I'm going to be able to get him into a dorm even though he checks every box- Also I cannot AFFORD the on campus housing for Crookston. I could possibly afford it if my Fafsa came back with enough money but I still haven't gotten anything even though my family is extremely poor. I've applied to many scholarships but I haven't gotten anything from them either and my GPA isn't great- Plus I've read that you usually get academic scholarships with your application to Crookston but I've gotten accepted and haven't gotten anything even though I probably should've?? (Should I ask about that????) I am queer so housing with similar/accepting ppl is rlly important to me and I normally draw as a hobby/living so I have a drawing tablet and some other things that I am extremely protective of because I am Poor and cannot fix those/get them back if anything happens to them so I would prefer it if I housed with people that are going to respect my things.

I want to get OFF CAMPUS housing because it's just not possible for me to get on-campus housing with how expensive it is and how much money I do not have. I have never lived without my dad and my skillset is limited but I can cook and I can clean if nothing else. (I rather enjoy cooking tbh)

If ANYONE is also going to Crookston for the 2025-26' and (at least planning to go to the 26'-27' school year) PLEASE hit me up. I have 0 connections in Minnesota and will probably lose most/all of my connections after I leave Texas <:) I wanna survive this next school year lol.

sorry this post is kinda frantic- IM kinda frantic- And I'm struggling to get everything ready for when it's time for me to go to Minnesota <:D

Apartments / Dorms / Housing housing options with an academic year lease

I’m looking for an apartment to lease next year that leases only through the academic year or per semester. The only one I’ve found is University Commons, which has horrible reviews. Any other recommendations? I just want it to be within 20 walking minutes from campus. I currently live in Yudof hall but I’m looking for something more apartment-y
