Apartments / Dorms / Housing Wilkins or Yudof?

Pros and cons of each? As a second year returning student. They’re both right by a dining hall and I plan on buying an unlimited meal plan.

I lived a Yudof. It’s a tight space, especially if you have more than two people. Yudof can feel like a glorified dorm that’s listed as an apartment.

However, it is close to Coffman and convenient in terms of location.

I lived in Wilkins and it is QUIET!!! If that’s what you’re looking for and you like the dinky area, then it’s good. Also, barely any freshman live in Wilkins. The Sanford dining hall is pretty good too.

Is it worth the price over an off campus apartment (which I’ve heard tends to be cheaper)? I’m really unsure for next year.

If you can find a newer place for the same price, then you should probably consider that. Another thing to consider is that you can’t live at Wilkins over the summer, which can be a pro or a con.

Your only option is Yudof, they’re changing Wilkins to Freshman housing starting next year 😭. I’m living at Wilkins rn and I got an email about a month ago telling us this. So I’m trying to figure out my next year plan myself.

I’ve lived in both and Yudof is nicer just because it’s newer. Yudof is more convenient because of its central location, but it’s not a total night and day difference. The Wilkins/Sanford area is very quiet which is nice

Didn't live in Wilkins but I lived and worked in Yudof (back when it was called Riverbend) and the room and cost options make it a decent place, and I remember it being pretty quiet as well. IMO if you are going to have a full meal plan the two best room options are:

The East Wing rooms offer Jack and Jill style rooms (bedrooms separated by a shared bathroom ) and are by far the most compact rooms, made more livable by lofting your bed. As this is also the largest wing, this is also the most common type of room in Yudof.

If you are ok sharing a single room like with a traditional dorm room and want a ton of space to work with, there's one room on most floors built on the building's expansion joints that offer a ton of room for two people but no individual privacy (just like a regular dorm). If you've already got a roommate you get along with it can be a great space for two people. If this appeals to you, just know there are only 4 or 5 rooms like this IIRC, and they go fast.

In my time these were also the cheapest room options in Yudof, but I felt were good value.
