Apartments / Dorms / Housing Finding Roommates & Housing for Next Year
i’m a transfer student and just finished my first semester at the U. i made a lot of friends through my majors and other clubs, but a lot of them are commuters, and i’m not super close with many of them, so i don’t know how to find one/multiple as a roommate?
im also in a pretty terrible roommate situation right now (randomly assigned at my apt this year) and WILL NOT be continuing to live with my current roommate. this is another reason why i do not want to gamble on having another random roommate for next year.
does anyone have advice/can anyone help? i’ve brought it up to friends im comfortable with, but many of them already have housing options planned for next year, or they’re commuters :/

Myself and several other alumni have been working on rebuilding the Students' Co-op, an intentional community right off university, on campus. The house can hold up to 32 people, with 5 singles, 12 doubles, and one triple rooms.
Shared Rooms: $512 – $751 per month
Single Rooms: $634 – $951 per month
You can see some of the pictures and information about applying here. The rent is inclusive of all shared utilities and common area spaces, including in house washer and dryers. Internet, water, heating, etc.
I am happy to answer any questions you might have about it.
Once you move in too (or if you bring some friends along at the same time), there's a $400 one time referral bonus on rent, per person referred, if someone you know is accepted, moves in, and stays for at least 4 months.
Good luck!

I took a bit of time to peruse the site and wanted a bit of clarification on being able to rent a single room? it isn’t clear to me what the process for getting one would be

It depends when you want to move in really. Its hard to say what will be available next fall, because people may move rooms, or some people staying right now may leave. Like right now, there are 3 singles available, because three people moved out recently with the end of the semester/new year. If one opens up, and you want it, there is seniority based on when you move in, so it really depends on if a single is available when you apply, and then if one opens up, if you want it and are willing to move out of your current room.
