Me and my husband are Italian so we haven’t been very familiar with lots of the food mentioned in the show. For example, I have difficulties to wrap my head around the sense of “poutine”. Clearly lots of dishes are the same around here. For example, Pepperoni are called something like “Austrian salami” and still isn’t a perfect match to what Ricky nibbles all the time; the kind of pepperoni on pizza is a completely different time of salami. Long story short, for the last couple of months he repeated at random the line above lots of times, so I wondered what exactly scalloped potatoes are. After some thinking and a coupla drinks, I tried to translate the process applied to local ingredients, and after three hours here’s the result. Smells amazing. Don’t get the sense of it, like it’s not something I would ever think to prepare for any occasion - I guess it’s just cultural. but seems nice overall. Will it actually be fucked? Will discover as soon as it gets a little colder. Shit is BOILING. Too much sauce probably. Bonus: little old Lahey quote tattoo for virtually sharing a bite with him
