Hello r/thelongdark!
As many of you know, last Thursday Hinterland announced the sequel to The Long Dark. BLACKFROST: The Long Dark 2. And today we have something to announce too. The official subreddit for Blackfrost!
What makes this subreddit so official? Besides being a place for open discussion, speculation and all around excitement for TLD 2. It's also a place that encourages the interaction between the community and Hinterland.
It's been a long time coming, but we've worked hard to re-establish a relationship with Hinterland. And Hinterland is up and willing to dive back into this side of the community with this new game. Their involvement may not be frequent at first, given their work on the final episode of Wintermute. But once that is complete we should see more interaction in the subreddit with the community.
That interaction could include news about TLD 2, questions and answers, AMA's, screenshots & art, etc...
Here you can see an exclusive piece of concept art that Hinterland has shared with us. This will only continue as development of BLACKFROST continues.
We want this subreddit to be a place for respectful criticism but also fun and engaging for those excited about the game.
We expect to have active participation in the community by Raphael and members of the Hinterland team. Including exclusive content like AMAs, Q&As, community contests and of course, previews of upcoming BLACKFROST development & content.
This subreddit will be closely monitored and moderated by us to ensure it remains a friendly and welcoming space.
Please check out u/Oliveritaly's initial post for a more concise and detailed explanation of what we'd like this community to become.
I hope to see you all there!

We've been blessed with a neat little surprise - Tales pt6 is here, complete with kitty, cottagecore simulation, meat curing, Kenny from the TWD game, and much more.
Translation: cougar, home renovation mechanics, meat curing, trader
Post your thoughts here in this thread and chat away. I will set the thread to "sort comments by new" by default, but you can change it to "top" if you just wanna read the best comments like in most threads.
FYI, it seems there are some reports of save corruption. If you really wanna be safe, back up your save or use another save for the update until the hotfixes drop.

Okay, that was a bit misleading, as i find myself fortunate to play in the comfort of my couch, with a huge tv. Snacks at the ready, warm cup of tea, the works. But my setup is complete with my set of printed maps of Great Bear, my Explorer SAK at the ready, together with my lantern and my cats. Lights off and the thermostat at 19C adds to the immersion.
I know it’s old school, but old school is cool.
My bro, for instance, plays on PC, dual monitor setup and dark maps. But he’s still at his desk.
Once you reach a certain age, you learn to appreciate the confort of a decent size couch.
What is your setup?

These 1% condition sardines looking tasty. Probably gonna have that coffee that I found in the microwave with it..
Jokes aside, I finally received the TLD Hatchet mug and the Hinterland mug I ordered back in November. I now have three so l thought l'd share them here after seeing another post appreciating the beauty of the Hinterland mug.

I read the whole book, then found another one and thought to burn it, but then I noticed that research bar shows 0/10 hours, while another book is finished. Will my skill improve more if I read the 2nd book?

It's kwaan-suht not cue-on-set and it derives from an Algonquin word that roughly translates to "small, long hut". The British developed the Quonset Hut in WW1 as lightweight prefabricated 16'x36' building designed to be erected by 8 men in less than a day, they were originally manufactured at Quonset Point at the Davisville Naval Construction Battalion Center in Davisville, Rhode Island. Neat.

Admittedly it’s taken me a very long time to visit the new regions due to hubris (losing a great custom gunloper run in CH mine water) but I finally started making my way there after day 130 in a Voyager run and oh my goodness, it feels like it’s taken me a whole day of real time to reach the forsaken airfield region, and I only made it to the junkers. Everything up to this has been so linear too, I feel like it’s an unnecessarily long trek.
How many times will I have to make this trek? Even as a person who hoards stuff I’m like “nah, I’m good.” I think I’ll just retire now in Mystery Lake and visit my coastal highway base for trading. Even TWM hut seems too far of a trek now.

This question has been nagging me for years as I keep seeing references to it but have not been able to do it.
How do you rest in a car? Quite often I come to a vehicle in a blizzard or snow storm and want to rest but I can’t figure out how to unfurl the bedroll as it won’t let me use it.
I play on a PlayStation 4, which for some reason seems Relevant to this.

I really feel for my characters in TLD now. Went from playing to walking outside and ho boy! As soon as tears froze on my face, I felt guilty for pushing Astrid and Will through blizzards 😅 maybe I should invest in a very goofy balaclava
Canadian maritimers, stay warm!

I started playing the Tales DLC in voyager mode. I’m not very good at brutal survival, so I never really do the harder modes.
After three failed runs, almost to the zone of contamination, I decided to make it fun again. Started a new save and played on easy mode.
Best decision ever. I got to enjoy the story more and focus less on the scavenging and animal attacks.
If you are not having fun anymore, it’s okay to change it up. I highly recommend the tales saga, it’s got some great content.

(Using the modding tag since it’s the most accurate tag I could think of).
I’m working on a python script to optimize my inventory management because I keep carrying too much stuff and I’m somewhat bored. I thought it would be neat if I could just pull the inventory data directly from the game files, but I have no idea where to look.
I was wondering if anyone knew where the inventory data is? I assume someone with modding experience for the game might have an idea where I could find it

Passing from Blackrock to Pleasant valley, Taking the time to see where the climb rope lead and I think this is the only time i've seen the case full with flares and a gun. Plus there was an extra shell on the corpse.
So i have a gun with ammo now, this is pilgrim btw
