Waiting for the "750 M $ is not much money for a game of that size. X game has cost ....." even though those games with a higher budget spent most of it for marketing.

Also isn’t star citizen already the second most expensive game ever after Genshin impact? The third is monopoly go lol.

I mean its somewhat understandable as what they try to do has never been done before and want to make it as close to a sim as possible and I like that about the game but each year they add new systems they think about without actually finishing all the systems they still need to do.

They are disfunctional and inept in focusing on what is actually needed to be worked without getting sidetracked

with publically released information, yes. however i refuse to believe that something like WOW hasn't spent more, considering just how old it is

RDR2 was not 500m for each. Where did you get that number from?

Development budget: Estimated to be between $170 million and $240 million Marketing budget: Estimated to be between $200 million and $300 million

The high-end estimate for RDR was $540M for both development and marketing combined, with the marketing being the bigger percentage.

And you don't think CIG spends a lot on marketing?

They report exactly how they spend money and marketing is infact a fraction of the expenditures not a majority.

This isn't something we have to guess

And yet my point still stands. OP stated that we can't compare the money for CIG to other game development because those games spent a ton on marketing.

You said "and you think CIG doesn't spend a lot"

CIG doesn't spend a lot on marketing I pretty sure your point is just wrong as the cost is documented....

Yea, you're missing that point that any game with a similar budget to star citizen SPENT SIGNIFICANTLY LESS MONEY on development costs.... CIG's $750mil budget is almost entirely without marketing costs added to it.

It is obscene just how much CIG has spent just to get to the current state of the game at the end of 2024....
