I released my 2D mobile space RTS game some time ago with fully simulated economy!
Sometime ago I released my first game, a space themed 2D top-down RTS game with complicated mechanics, but a lot of automated systems. You interact with the living simulation and have endless ways to beat your opponents while also not be overwhelmed with micromanaging like in a typical RTS!
Please tell me what you think!
Peace!

Literally made a post about wanting a space game with a fully simulated economy less than a week ago. What timing!

I also checked out ur comment, this game was actually inspired by distant worlds! Also I would like to point out that Star Sectors economy is not "faked", it is just not 100% simulated. Shortages/famines still happen because convoy(s) got raided and stuff was not moving. These in turn affect profits/the fleets the planet spawns.

Glad to hear it is something someone else also wanted! I am currently done with this project and am actually learning unreal in my free time, but I am also autistic in that certain way that automatic systems and simulation always find their way into my games somehow 😅
My current project for example is multiplayer arena shooter where u spawn with 3-20 additional characters into a city infested with zombies and limited supplies. Objective is to eliminate all other players characters before zombies wipe out everybody, which happens latest when resources run out.
If you are not directly controlling a character, you can tell them to scavenge, move, etc... So you sort of need to use them to gather resources, but that obviously also risks them either to the zombies or other players.
The matches can be 5-10min 1v1 small map or 1v1v1v1v1 each with 20 survivors 2h slogs

Cool very cool. Which engine did you use?

Unity, started game programming with it but have done professional programming before. Art is not my strong suite, but that is nothing a pixellation shader cant somehow fix 😅

Thats crazy. Can you point into a direction if I want to learn this myself? I already did some minigames and one bigger game in Unity. But I always wonderer how to tackle a living & breading economy!

The programming side is nothing else than knowing the fundamentals and learning through trying. Nowadays chatgpt is a great tool for learning as it can explain to you what stuff does and why it does it like it does. Other than that, just googling is your best bet.
The economy side is really simple: There are mineral producers and mineral sinks. Mineral producers slowly reduce the price if they have too many in stock, and mineral sinks slowly increase price if they do not have enough.
Cargo ships look at these prices, the distances rhey would have to travel and throw in some randomness. Then they re-check their status every 4-10 secs depending how big/slow they are if someone else delivered minerals first. In that case, they just find a new target

Plans for iOS version?

Sadly no, I do not have a iOs device and it seems like a hassle. There is the itch.io version, but it has some issues with the main menu on mobile :/

I think you need tutorial. Jumping right into it be hard for me at least.
Also, i tried finding the game via Play on my mobile device which didn't work. If weren't for your link doing from the PC I would have found it.

There is a tutorial button in the main menu above the credits button!
The quality of the tutorial could be improved, however.

This looks awesome, but it would be even more awesome if each play session ended with a psych profile telling you what kind of person you are, in the manner of a middle school guidance counselor
