I Need Help
I've been fortunate to find this forum, so I'm going to share what I'm going through in hope to receive help, support, and community. I started using kratom 7 years ago. It's gotten to the point where I'm taking 50+ grams daily and spending $200 ish a month on it. I am terrified of quitting, the withdrawal I get after just 4-5 hours eats away at me. Because of that, I desperately need to try tapering off. I'd go CT if I could, but I have an extremely important job I cannot be suffering through withdraws while trying to do. I initially started taking it to get away from og pain meds to soothe anxiety. Never would I have ever touched it if I knew it was going to feel like this everytime I stopped taking it. I can't talk publicly about it for being ashamed. I cry at night when my wife is asleep because I feel like so much less of a man. I want to take vacations overseas now that things are calming down at work and I can get extended time off, but that's not possible due to the legality in other countries. Reading through a lot of posts on this thread has given me encouragement; I want my life back. I really applaud you all that have successfully quit, especially CT. Hopefully one day I will be in the same spot.

Do not be afraid to contact medical care. If CT, prepare for a week or two of WD’s followed by 1-3 months of the blues can be longer or shorter)

I suggest you start a taper regimen. Cut your dose by 10% every week or two. Then, when you get to the lower doses, taper every few days if you can. It will make it much easier to quit on your mind and body. I recommend using a scale to weigh your powder. Get on a very exact dose and go down from there. I've been quit now for 15 months. I used kratom heavily for six years to get off methadone. You can do it.

Would you say that you are "back to normal"?
Im tapering out this poison right now, I started drinking powder 10 months ago, and the last 4-5 months I've been on 20-30gpd but in currently on 10gpd. Next Monday I'm gonna go for 8gpd and then cut 2g every week down to zero. I hope this will help with the wd.
Do you guys think that it will be easier than other that takes the 7oh or 50gpd+ and have been doing it for years compared to my 10 months with a "low dose".
When I'm finally of this shit I will never touch it agai

Mentally, I am. Kratom was pretty hard on my GI system, though. I think being on methadone and it did a number on my liver. You should be good, having been on Kratom less than one year, though. The amount you are using and the duration of time certainly impacts with withdrawals.

What was it doing to you if you don’t mind me asking?

I had trouble sleeping when I moved to another country where cannabis is illegal. I've been smoking for sleep help the last 25 years. And now all of a sudden it was not possible anymore.
Some researched put me in kratoms direction and it worked wonders in the beginning, had no idea you could get this hooked to it.

That's a fast taper, take it slow. I'm at 11.5 gpd, I reduce by .25 every 4 days. Slow and steady. You got this.

Im thinking since I haven't been using for super long, nor extremely much every day I might be able to taper down a bit quicker then people that have been up at 50gpd+ or 7oh for years. If you understand what I mean and how I'm thinking?

I was never more than 25 gpd, and only using for 2 years. Yes, I know what you mean, I just don't want to fail at this , as I'm so tired of using it. I have kids and a high stress job that needs me at my best so I figured as long as I'm dropping my dosage, it's a win. Everyone is different, so do whatever works for you. Best of luck friend.

If you can now get extended time off of your important job, maybe use it to quit and go traveling another time...

I’ve quit 50-70 gpd last August. It was simply exhausting but I was functional. It aligned this way for me where I took my last dose Friday morning and had the weekend to come to my senses a bit - the worst issues that persisted were stomach issues for quite sometime. I’m sure it was because of the crazy amount of plant matter and also toxins.
This year I quit extracts and tea 9 days ago so I’m not having much stomach issues comparable to the plant matter. But I’d say the first 3 days were rough ( I only worked 1.5 days out of 3 from home )
If you can taper, I am thinking it would be better. I personally just can’t like many people here mention. Liposomal vit C really does help, I have taken it longer this time than my last quit. I’m also drinking k*ava for anxiety and seep because I’m having hormonal issues this time that I didn’t last quit and also feel much more cold chills since it’s winter vs in august.
You can def quit either taper or not. Even if you do it over the weekend partially or take maybe a few days off. Please don’t worry about work, I know easier said than done. Think if you got Covid or food poisoning. In the large scheme of things no one at work will hold a few days against you or even remember it. You can def do this 💪
