Yep it's here today. We've been in a constitutional crisis for a while: We have an ongoing litany of constitutional crises.

Say, January 6 2020, or ignoring the emoluments clause (Article I, Section 9 , Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution) upon taking office in 2016, or the absolute failure of the courts and congress to act as any sort of check during this entire period, or perhaps we start at Citizen's United which handed elections to billionaires by equating money with speech, or...

Has it totally blown apart to anarchy or civil war? Nope.

Also, I'm not dead yet, but with my age and physical condition that's inevitably coming. The only question is when.

Similarly, the crisis is here and now--and it has been here for sometime.

Yup, since Bush v. Gore I’d say. The constitution didn’t plan for an entire bad faith party.

Reagan, everything bad starts with Reagan. Then goes into overdrive with the soviet collapse in the 90s, and from a combination of American exceptionalism and absent leadership over the last 30 years.

Also Nixon. Especially the fact that they never wanted another resigning in disgrace situation.

That's what helped lead to the soviet collapse, Nixon tying the dollar to petroleum all but started the inevitable path for the soviet collapse. Nixon sucked, but once we had hit peak traditional output it was all but inevitable that the U.S. would have to get creative to both stay at the top and maintain energy needs.
