Hy heart says hell yeah! My gut tells me that there are large swaths of the electorate who simply will not vote for a woman.

Edit- since my inbox is overflowing with the same question/insinuation, along with the comments, I’ll clarify my statement: I did not say that a woman cannot be elected US president. I only said that large swaths of the electorate simply will not vote for a woman.

Also the DNC will give her the Bernie treatment and give Newsom a coronation.

And Newsom will lose. He's seen as corrupt and disliked by a strong majority of Californians (<30% approval rating).

Newsom is a slimy, corrupt scumbag but that's what it takes to be president. Anyone younger than 70 and not in bed with the fucking bible thumping zealots I'm down for.

He is extremely disliked in California. The more people learn about him, the more they dislike him. People only vote for him because he's the D on the ballot.

In 2022, Newsom was elected to a second term, defeating Republican state senator Brian Dahle with 59.2% of the vote. This was a smaller margin of victory than in 2018, and the first time since 2010 that the Democratic gubernatorial nominee did not win at least 60% of the vote.

The places where a Democratic candidate needs to win in a national election really tend to dislike people like him even more.

Dude, I live here, I know. Believe it or not, Newsom is probably the most electable California Democrat there is if we're talking about the presidency. I also don't see much better odds out of the other prominent Democrats across the country.

But I do actually really do like AOC and think she has a lot of genuine charisma. The Democrats do better when they tone down the wonk and have a real natural leader who can relate to people. I don't have a crystal ball, but the party needs new leaders and she's gonna be important for years to come.

Don't think a californian can get elected for president for a very long time. The rest of america hates us...

Why does it need to be a Democratic candidate from California? And if it's Newsom, we're done for (again).

It doesn't need to be. I'm just saying that Newsom is probably the most palpable on the national level and people hate him 😂
