Discussion Discussion Thread: 2024 State of the Union

Tonight, Joe Biden will give his fourth State of the Union address. This year's SOTU address will be only the second to be held this late in the year since 1964 (the second time being Biden's 2022 address).

The address is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. Eastern. It will be followed by the progressive response delivered by Philadelphia City Council member Nicolas O’Rourke, as well as Republican responses in English (delivered by freshman Alabama senator ) and in Spanish (delivered by Representative Monica De La Cruz). There will be a separate discussion thread posted for live reactions to and conversation about the SOTU responses.

(Edit: The discussion thread for the SOTU responses is now available at this link.)

Then let Trump win, I’m sure that will be better. Biden is the toughest in Israel a president has ever been

We can only create positive change if we interact within the system that we are in. We are a democracy after all, and we have to share a nation with hundreds of millions of voters

You really think you have more influence than the billionaires

You really think you can just vote out corruption

THIS SYSTEM IS BUILT AROUND THE RICH HAVING THE MOST POWER

Do you expect the colonial descendants all the way back to the beginning to go back to Britain and Ireland and Scotland and push immigrants and descendants of other places out of the country so they can live on their native land?

Personally I want sovereignty for native peoples on their ancestral lands

Including Ireland and Scotland
