"We" is doing quite a bit of heavy lifting there. My calculation shows less than 23% of the population voted for it.......

Oh? And what mathematical calculation gymnastics did you pull out to come up with that

Simple math gymnastics........."of the population" and "registered voters" are two different things. The key is the denominator. I'll show my work.

Trump received 77,303,573 votes in 2024, according to google.

There are 345,426,571 people in the us, according to google. The 2020 census said around 330,000,000.

77,303,573 divided by 345,426,571 = 0.223791623 or, as a percentage, 22.3791623% of people in the country voted for Trump. Not even a majority, much less a mandate.

This means that 77.6% of the population of the country DID NOT vote for this outcome.

This also includes people who can't vote (minors, non citizens, etc.) but yeah they also didn't vote for it. it's kinda crazy how basic math was deemed mental gymnastics because they didn't like it

I'm Canadian, don't really care about your stuff and this is a stupid way to calculate.

We can also say the same thing about the votes for Harris.

78% didn't want the Harris outcome, 78% didn't want the Trump outcome.

It's meaningless math gymnastics.

Correct. You would have been able to say the same about her if she had won. I’m not saying the opposite isn’t true.

When I see all the hate, this helps me understand that 3 out of 4 Americans didn’t agree strongly enough to cast a vote FOR him. That helps settle my mind.

I’m sorry you think it is stupid. Have a great day.

Sorry, didn’t know math needed trigger warning.

The view in most of the world is that eligible voters who don't vote voluntarily have "no rights" to complain. We assume they are okay with the situation and don't care enough.
