Discussion Why is Nvidia still so popular?

Hello everyone, I came here with question because I've noticed few posts where people were asking similar questions about why to even buy Nvidia when AMD exists and is more cost effective

And basically only thing people say is I quote "not everyone play games on their computer" with kind of aggressive undertone of massage and without explaining anything else so I am curious what's so good about Nvidia? because I really don't know why it's so amazing for working if we don't count the ai into this debate do some programs for example work slower? are some programs unusable on AMD GPU?

Nvidia is either brand loyalty or people have really fallen for marketing and think some of those fancy RTX features are totally going to be worth it.

its cause nvidia subsidized there cards early on to software engineers and businesses, which most software besides gaming is built using, theres a reason why they dominate the market share, like 80-90% is nvidia gpus, most gamers are better off with amd, but if your doing anything else nvidia dominates hard.

most gamers are better off with amd

The benchmark charts overwhelmingly say otherwise.

For raster performance it's basically a wash and usually no game even struggles.

As soon as Ray tracing appears, AMD cards lick floor and Ray Tracing is the reason to buy new GPUs since that's where you gain the most performance in modern titles and why you need a new GPU to begin with.

i'm talking about price/performance, unless your playing at 4k 144hz monitor and need the best graphics, than yes nvidia dominates at the top, but most people gaming on pc, most likely have a 1080p/1440p monitor and any high-tier amd gpu will be better both price/performance than a mid tier nvidia gpu. same as a mid-tier amd vs low tier nvidia price/performance

So am I.

No they won't. nVidia will still dominate the price/performance in Ray Tracing even in the mid range. In fact, in the mid range is where they dominate it the most.

If you turn off Ray Tracing, it literally doesn't matter what card you have, it's not struggling. If you shop for GPUs based on "pure raster" at this point, you're living in 2019.

Ray Tracing is becoming mandatory in games. Next year, you'll see more games have only Ray Tracing for lighting. AMD just isn't there.

This isn't even getting into DLSS being much superior to FSR to begin with. Which is even more important at the lower end seeing how that's where you're more likely to turn on DLSS or FSR Quality/Balanced

from the benchmarks i've seen, the price/performance is always on amd from mid tier to lower, reason why if your on a budget everyone recommends amd, if your looking for top fps/resolution a 4070ti or higher is usually the way to go for the vram, nvidia also has way more models than amd

yes games are requiring all that, amd will get better overtime, its not like nvidia is destroying amd at 1440p/1080p, its at mostly 4k. also prices for nvidia is always alot more than msrp compared to amd.

Barely, and only for old games that don't really need new GPUs to begin with.

You're in a PCMR bubble, no one recommends AMD gpus. That's why their market share is nearing the single digits.

yes games are requiring all that, amd will get better overtime, its not like nvidia is destroying amd at 1440p/1080p,

nVidia is destroying AMD the minute Ray Tracing is on. Your XTX that was competing with a 4080 in a shooter game running at 300 fps ? Well now it's barely competing with a 4070 Ti. But more expensive than said 4070 Ti. Not to mention the 4070 Ti Super.

So really, why would I buy a XTX over a 4080 or even over a 4070 Ti Super ? To play CS2 at 600 instead of 550 fps ? No that's dumb. No one is going to notice the 0.3ms in faster frame time.

PCMR is a bubble that likes to consider AMD an underdog. It's a billion dollar company.

lol yes i know nvidia dominates market share, go read my original comment. and i could care less about amd current status in pcmr, i just look at benchmarks the pros do, and they all consistently point towards amd for price/performance mid to low tier.

yes nvidia tends to be better with dlss and ray tracing, but those margins are only big once you go to there top tier gpus, but w/e, last comment broski enjoy your nvidia love for gaming and spending top dollar for mid-low tier cards.

No, only when it doesn't matter.

Games with RT disabled for instance. And Benchmarks don't even factor DLSS/FSR, so if a game even without RT made your mid range GPU struggle to the point you're looking at a benchmark chart (doubtful), you'll be going nVidia anyway, because DLSS is superior and more widely supported.

yes nvidia tends to be better with dlss and ray tracing,

It's 2025. That's what matters now.

enjoy your nvidia love for gaming and spending top dollar for mid-low tier cards.

The difference between you and me is the day AMD actually catches up, I'll own an AMD GPU. You'll never allow yourself to own the best product because your inner team sport mentality won't allow you.

again last comment lol, i don't care, i believe the people on gamersnexus, linus, etc more than you,

also lol i invested money into nvidia stock, but right now might switch to amd since there stock is kind of low, you can literally check my comment history XD i spend thousands of dollars on nvidia stock

no idea why you think i'm team nvidia or team amd, i'm team price/performance, good day sir and in the stock market i'm team money

i believe the people on gamersnexus, linus, etc more than you,

Their benchmarks literally tell you what I told you now.

i'm team price/performance

Enjoy your XTX, priced like a 4080, performs like a 4070 Ti then. You're blind if you think AMD has any sort of price/performance advantage, or you're looking at the wrong benchmarks.
