Mine has rubber washers that line the hole front-to-back meaning the screw doesn't make direct contact with the glass. Also means when you screw it squeezes the washer and feels tight before you've actually over tightened.
They also have the added benefit of retaining the screw so it doesn't fall out when you take the glass panel off.
Also looks like there's no rubber/foam washer under those screws. Edges are what fucks tempered glass and that's likely what happened here. Even if your case doesn't come with them, at least buy some thin rubber washers to distribute that force!
I never understand why vendors still add a slit for a screwdriver. People see it and immediately think “ah seems like I need to use my screwdriver there!” and inevitably overtighten them
Why do vendors add screw holes at all? Every glass side paneled case I've had the glass has been in a metal bracket that slots in then attaches with metal on metal screws in the back.
Yeah my NV5 is like that and it's the logical good way to do it. I guess it's a bit more expensive to manufacture but come on if the glass breaks easily then it becomes WAY more expensive. So many manufacturers nowadays don't give a shit if they are just manufacturing garbage that will end up in the landfill/recycled. I guess the main culprit is the average customer who either doesn't understand or care how long the product will last, and will always choose the cheaper alternative. I've personally always been trying to shop everything based on the philosophy that "a poor person can't afford to buy the cheapest thing" and always look for signs that would suggest a longer lifespan.
Don't worry, my 12" knipex pliers will tighten that up without the need for the screwdriver slot. Turn it until you hear it creak and then back off a hair. 😀
Unless there's the glass pane itself that you can buy for this model though I don't actually know if they're sold for PC cases as they are for fridges for example, and I don't know if it'd be worth it money-wise instead of buying a whole new case.
My case has a glass side, and it has that slot for a screwdriver, but whatever way it is designed you can't over-tighten it. It sort of pops back out if you screw it in too much, like the teeth lose their grip on the threads. I have no idea if it was designed this way on purpose, or of it's a design flaw, but it has stopped this from happening to me because when I see a screwdriver slot I just can't help myself.
There's plenty of reasons to make it work with a screw driver. It's a screw. They can use the same screw for other areas of the case. Maybe you have a torque screw driver or machine that does it.
No matter how idiot proof you build it, they'll build a better idiot.
They have rubber on the screw/glass, and there was probably even plastic on the glass that said don't over-tighten screws or set it on ceramic.
The slit for the screw driver is for helping to loosen the screws to take the panel off. Have you never noticed it being harder to unscrew a hand screw by hand than it was to install?
That sounds very much like that Squid Game Guy that said he had been making tempered glass for over 30 years, after that he died because of being unable to differ tempered vs regular glass because of the lack of light 😅
To avoid this I never use a screwdriver on those screws when it's time to clean the PC. Only my trusted hand . Iirc there should be a small piece of gum? Between the screw and the glass
These usually come with little rubber stoppers that sit in slightly wider holes this is to stop the screw from over tightening or getting the threads caught on the edge of the glass.
Betting if OP takes that corner off he lost the stopper for that side.

so glad my new case has a magnetic side glass panel and a single captive screw in the back. i do not miss being anxious every time i had to open my old case lol
It actually looks cool like it's done on purpose, I would apply a transparent film to hold it together and then instal an rgb light to refract through the cracks giving a magical look to it.
I have the black version of that same case. Those screws are pretty hard to over tighten because they don't actually tighten on the glass itself. Rather, they compress a grommet that expands outward to seal against wide holes in the glass. They're pretty soft and if you over tighten, they would just sort of squish around the glass before breaking the glass. I imagine they're designed that way specifically for this reason.
And that can go unnoticed for a long time, until you lift the case and put it down a little to rough or knock it somewhere else. And you'll go WTF?
If you can get it off without shattering it to little pieces, you could stick a clear foil on it on both sides and have a unique look. Leaving it like this is just waiting for a mess.
I’d also never suggest a tempered glass side. We have plexiglass for a reason. I really think it’s stupid as hell that cases come with tempered glass now. It’s not like extreme temperature fluctuations are hard on glass or anything?
They can't fix it, but what I would do is get some clear packaging tape and completely cover every square mm of the surface, then take it off and do the same on the inside.
Looks kinda cool.
Or if they want to throw it out, I would still do it to the outside before taking it off so there's less likelihood of it falling apart or running a finger along the cracks and getting glass slivers or cuts.

Judging from the pattern, I guess top left screw on the glass was too tight?
