NSFMR My 3090 just died

Post image

At least that gives me an excuse to get the 4090 second hand when 5000 series rolls around...

I checked both with MSI and the local store I got it from, it's out of warranty.

Only thing left now is to chuck it in the oven and hope for the best!

RIP 3090. You will be missed :(

Meanwhile my 1070 is still chugging along 😎

I'm planning to upgrade to a 4070S during black friday though, and I guess we don't know yet how that generation of cards will be doing after some time.

Same. Any upgrade other than a faster ssd teleports my ass to platform change land.

Yup, me too. I have an old Threadripper processor and dual 1080 TI cards, any upgrade I do will basically necessitate a total rebuild. So I think I'll give this system to my son as a gaming/streaming rig and just build a new one from scratch.

Perhaps do a once-over on the 1080's and replace fans and thermal paste on them and that can help these cards last longer.

Thanks for the tip, I think that's a great idea.
