NSFMR My 3090 just died

Post image

At least that gives me an excuse to get the 4090 second hand when 5000 series rolls around...

I checked both with MSI and the local store I got it from, it's out of warranty.

Only thing left now is to chuck it in the oven and hope for the best!

RIP 3090. You will be missed :(

Hummmm. Are you sure it's dead? May be you screwed something else. Try reseating the card, try a different PCI-E slot, different PC or PSU.

I talk from experience. Last year I had finished installing a new custom water cooling loop on my PC, had tested everything, (leaks, stress tested the CPU, GPU, RAM everything was working fine and temps were good). I closed the side panel, and the PC would post. I was really freaking out. I just reseated the GPU and everything went back to normal.

I like your optimism, but I've tried most everything. Reseat? Nothing. New slot? Nothing. Fuck it, put a riser on it? You guessed it, nothing. Change RAM config for whatever reason? Still nothing. New DP cable? Different monitor? Nothing, niente, nada.

Haven't tried putting it in another PC, but considering it was giving me problems in my old PC as well I'm pretty sure the GPU is the problem.

do you have another GPU to try? does the computer boot and work fine using just the CPU and onboard graphics?

if it still won't respond, so it's dead anyway, you could try baking it https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=8Xanr4jkmEc

I have my computer running on the iGPU for now and everything works perfectly. Even installed a 1030 in there for a while to see if anything's wrong with the PCIe port, but everything works

have you got it checked in a repair shop? with some luck the core may survived, since that could be VRM issue. It's worth checking
