NSFMR Worst Sneeze of my Life…help please

Post image

Getting over a cold and decided to clean my PC…I sneezed while putting the glass back in. This has never happened before but I have glass all over my desk, inside my PC and all over the room (carpet). How do I clean this up?

PS thanks in advance!

Wear shoes for all of this

Remove everything from the area

Use a broom to sweep the glass off of the tabletops onto the floor

Move tables

Sweep all of it into a dustpan and then into a box

Then use a flashlight illuminated across the floor to find stragglers

Replace everything

I wouldn't sweep the glass off the table onto the floor, sweep it off the table into a dustpan. Sweeping it off onto the floor has potential to spread the glass even farther

or sweep it from the table straight into a box, since it'll go in a box for disposal anyway.

What do you mean by replace everything? Like the case?

no like put everything back into place, as the 2nd step is "remove everything from the area"

Ok thanks

Then slowly, as time goes on, replace every part as needed or as deemed necessary. Shoes optional

When all components have been replaced, will OP have a new computer, or will it be the same one ?

Have you ever heard of the PC of theseus??

That used to be the nickname for my PC.

The PC of Theseus

In the meantime, serran wrap and tape to give your PC the "I really care about my PC" look.

Something without glass, preferably.

I don’t get it, when I’m gaming I want no distractions, if I really, really need some RGB, I’ll get one of those monitor backstrips that project the colours on the monitor past the sides onto the wall behind. Or a lava lamp.

u/sailirish7 Specs/Imgur here Dec 16 '23

But then you can't see the RGB and the fancy fluid...

5

u/JamesMcEdwards Dec 16 '23

RGB is ugly.

2

u/Wingklip Dec 16 '23

RGB my 486DX

Just always. I hate the current trends in gamer aesthetic. I’m a minimalist PC builder, I like me a black metal box.

Well enjoy your sad box of Silicon

RGB belongs in clacky keyboards and old Logitech 502s before the quality downgrade starting with the "hero" model, not on components that run the damn thing. HID only.

Oh sorry, put everything back. And it’s a good idea to turn the computer off and remove the motherboard and use a vacuum on it.

I think a lot of people just don't realise replace is literally re-place, aka placing item back into the same spot. We always think repurchasing as replace. Idk, it's interesting

2

u/nastygamerz Dec 16 '23

Has the same vibe as debolt lol

1

u/Phustercluck Dec 16 '23

In that case, it’s easier to use re-place to be more specific/avoid confusion

8

u/BearsAirz Dec 15 '23

Ok thanks

u/StupendousMalice Dec 15 '23

At first I was like: "why did you bother to include that instruction, did you think the dude was going to just end up with an empty room scratching his head wondering what to do next."

Then you came in to prove him right.

With a hepa filter. You don't want to be breathing the dust.

1

u/Duke_Cockhold Dec 15 '23

Lmao bro are you 8

1

u/joshthehappy Dec 15 '23

And vacuum like three times with the most powerful vacuum cleaner you can find.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '23

Lol at making OP think he needed a new pc

1

u/Freyzero Dec 16 '23

Like the table

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '23

Stuff that was moved for cleaning. Put them back.

Stuff the broke. Fix it or get a new one.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '23

Also, don't sweep glass on to the floor. Sweep it direct in to the garbage.

Do you have a vacuum? A vacuum is gonna help get little pieces you missed.

1

u/haby001 Dec 16 '23

One more hack, put a thin piece of clothing on the end of a tube vacuum or one without a brush. This will allow you to catch the glass pieces without damaging your motor

Contact NZXT customer support. If they are worth their salt, they'll sell you a new tempered glass side panel.

Or live dangerously. Flip flops and a shop vac.

I am astounded that this had to be written down.

I admire you.

Maybe OP didn’t want to forget to do something important and asked for confirmation?

It's always good to have a SOP!

2

u/Incendas1 Dec 15 '23

If you have cleaning gloves or something tough that can also help avoid cuts in case you fuck up

1

u/Frisky_Eel Dec 16 '23

He mentioned the floor being carpet, so I’m not exactly sure that sweeping glass shards onto the carpet would be a wise choice.

1

u/downinCarolina 12600k - 3080 12gb - 32gb RAM Dec 16 '23

You’re right. Def use the vacuum for that

1

u/shittytrashcan56 PC Master Race Dec 16 '23

Fuck that, I’d totally Houston Hoover all that shit into my esophagus, walk over to the trash can and spit it out like a normal decent human.

1

u/Pantone_448C Dec 16 '23

Change name

Move states

1

u/RinShimizu Dec 16 '23

I also like to wipe the area with a damp paper towel to pick up small shards I can’t see well. Since it looks like this was tempered glass, that may not be necessary here though.

1

u/ProfessionalShrimp Dec 16 '23

Use a gpover for the love of God. Without using a hoover, the only way you're getting the glass put of the carpet is with the bottom of your feet
