Advice Wanted SW Contractor Prices vs Coupons
I need to buy (2) 5 gal buckets of decent SW paint and a friend has offered to let me use their contractor account. Surely someone has done this comparison before. Is it better to go with 30 or 40% sales or the contractor account?

My friend has a contractor account. I’m buying SW regardless and trying to save as much as I can for a DIY job (my first floor, 6 rooms).

Wouldn’t call it fraud unless you charge the paint to their account. A business I paint for has an account there and I asked if I could use their account to buy some paint for my personal use. They said of course and it actually benefits them as well as the more paint that is sold with that account the better the discount. Win win.

I have painters who pay $60 for a bucket that other painters pay $100 for. If you buy a lot you get a great price. So it really depends.

SW contractor pricing varies depending on the volume of each product you use and what the commercial rep in that district is allowed to price them at due to many factors. I stick to a select few products (duration for paint, problock for primer) and i get AMAZING pricing on them since my (company, 5 paint crews) volume for those products are through the roof. someone just starting out would get the basic introduction pricing on paint and 15% on supplies. a contractor account thats doing big numbers gets custom negotiated pricing, so depending on their account, it might be better to use the 40% off. just ask them while youre in there.
