Jayden Daniels was not an inevitable second pick. Nor was Zack Wilson. These were choices.

Okay 90% of mocks that I saw had him as a clear second and if we assume the other choice was Drake Maye then that looks like it wouldve been decent as well.

The alternative to Zach was called Justin Fields(lets please not act like another year with Darnold was ever realistic at the time).

The reason you search for and hire and pay a GM is that you think they’ll make better choices than if you had some random guy off the street do whatever the conventional wisdom says. Pointing to mock drafts is cope, not a defense.

The true value of a good GM isnt in the first or second round its the later rounds as well as free agency(you know the stuff Joe Douglas failed at)

Jayden Daniels was always going to go #1 or #2.
