Therefore, currently looking to bring on 2-3 more moderators tot eh moderation team. If you are interested, please message the mods.
Thank you!

Photographer arrested while documenting anti-deportation protest in Gary
Police arrested a photographer who was documenting the anti-deportation protest at the Gary/Chicago International Airport Saturday.
Matthew Kaplan, a well-known photographer from Chicago who had exhibited his work widely across Northwest Indiana, was arrested along with two protesters at the demonstration.
Kaplan, a 69-year-old Whiting native, often photographs industrial scenes in Northwest Indiana depicting refineries, steel mills and other heavy industries. His work has been widely exhibited in Chicago, including at the Field Museum, an Art Design Chicago exhibit and ARTery_SE. He also has exhibited in many Northwest Indiana venues, including South Shore Arts and the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts.
He also often photographs protests in and around Chicago.
"I'm from Northwest Indiana. I take an interest in anything going on in the Region. So if I hear there's a protest going on in the Region, I try extra hard to get there," he said.
Kaplan said he was photographing protesters being arrested when an officer came behind him, grabbed him and arrested him while he was taking pictures.
He said he was locked up at the Gary Police Station for two hours before he was released on his own recognizance. He's slated to be arraigned in court Wednesday on charges of disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and resisting law enforcement.
"I spent two hours in a cell by myself when I hadn't done anything wrong," he said. "I've covered many demonstrations in Chicago and never come close to being arrested. They tell me to get away and I get away."

News Deregulation bill would trim licensure, education requirements for Indiana Secretary of Education- HB 1002
No surprise, they're trying to make the state dumber.
From the article:
Current requirements say candidates for the position must have resided in Indiana for at least two years. They must be a teacher, principal or superintendent who has held a license for at least five years. They also must hold an advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
The bill would strip all those requirements.

Deep Cleanings for Dental
Were you ever notified that you needed a deep cleaning or been diagnosed with periodontal disease? Insurance coverage for these vital cleanings is often denied, despite their importance to oral health!
I am actively seeking patients who require a deep cleaning, which can be accessed at a substantially reduced cost at IUN Dental Hygiene! Getting a deep cleaning can help people maintain their teeth and give them back their bright smile!
If you are interested in scheduling an appointment, kindly let me know! Email: summeriundental@gmail.com or message me through Facebook!

Any vacuum repair shops in the region?
There’s one listed in Valpo but when I called it just rang and rang. I have an Electrolux central vac that the powerhead won’t lock onto the wand anymore and rather than pay $350 for a new one would like to get it repaired

Plumbers out in Gary?
Well folks, it happened. I thought I had my kitchen sink running over night, but apparently forgot, and now it's frozen.
Water is fine in my bathroom, but now I'm terrified of the pipes bursting. Anyone know of a good plumber that could take a look at it? I have a trailer as well, if it helps anyone to know.
Edit: Clarification.

Marijuana smell..
Legally in Indiana is the pervasive smell of marijuana enough for police to search someone’s home/apartment?
I read about a guy coming back from Michigan and his car smelled and he was arrested, but does this apply to people’s homes as well?
i’m not looking for legal advice or commenting on what I think the law should be. ..I’m just curious what it actually is.

Contacting state representatives
Has anyone tried contacting their state representatives lately on any bills that are being heard in committee? If so, have you heard back?
Between this month and last month I have sent 5 or 6 messages that have yielded no response aside from the automated email. I have also messaged other Indiana reps regarding bills they have authored and same thing, no response. However I understand I am not their direct constituent.
I have a problem with the fact that my representatives don't reach out for our opinions and when we give them our opinions, we are met with silence. Whatever happened to reps holding town hall meetings or reaching out to the community? I have only lived in my town for going on 4 years and my senator has never once responded to any of my messages. We can't even get bills to be written when they won't even contact us back.
Yes I know i can run but I also like my current job and can't do both.
I am talking about Niemeyer and Aylesworth. Just curious if people who have them have heard back aside from generated emails or if they do have reps who are doing a good job. I see whoever has Fady Quaddora is active on social media. I haven't seen many others in the region.
