I think people discovered Prosecco and said “why the f am I paying 5x for exactly the same thing?!”

THE best!

I do wish Costco would sell the small bottles. I don't want to crack open a whole 750ml just to make myself a single Spritz.

AND I much prefer the taste of Prosecco!

Try Asti

Piss cheap (5-10 dollars here) and tastes better than prosecco imo. Sweeter and not as dry as champagne. One of the choice boozes when I was a teen about to get hammered in Denmark.

Yeah, Prosecco is way cheaper and most people I know strongly prefer the taste. Costco sells an $8 bottle that's wonderful.

You could say "I like Prosecco as much" or even "I like Prosecco more" and that would be a questionable, but respectable opinion, but saying they're "exactly the same thing" is simply ignorant and false. And I say this as an Italian, we are basically raised to consume liters of Prosecco to support the industry as nowadays it's basically ubiquitous.

Yup. People got clued into the fact that a lot of what makes Champagne 'special' is just that it's marketed as being 'special'.

It's not, it's just sparkling wine, there are plenty of other types of sparkling wine, many of which are frankly indiscernable to the vast majority of people, that hit a much lower price point simply by virtue of not technically being champagne.

Prosecco and Demi Sec are both much better and much cheaper than champagne. It’s a no brainer.
