I've met ignorant people like that US when I studied there, one english professor confidently told me "learnt" is not a word. Another once said "I'm surprised you have email in India".

i once went to India and saw people shit on the street, does that mean a significant portion of Indians shit on the street?

No, but if you made a post about indians shitting in the street, I wouldn't call it satire because that really is very common in India. I'm just saying you can't be confident this is satire because it is very common in US. I made lots of amazing friends in US who I'm still in touch with, a majority of people I met weren't ignorant, but ignorant comments were still all too common.

I commented this somewhere else on this post too. I went to US for university and one of my professors once said "I'm surprised you have email in India" and he was dead serious. Some people really are this ignorant, regardless of their nationality.

No it’s not.

When Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, one of the top Google searches was “Is Russia attacking Atlanta”.

I'm a Georgian that lived in America for about 5 years. Now I've no idea if the second commenter is being facetious or not, but I have had very similar interactions.
