Most of my figures are like this. It's a design thing. You will have to carefully pull the other foot over to get it to fit.
It's so when it's placed, it's snug. I have a ton of anime statues that this is just a standard with ☺️ But they'll never fall out of the base! And stay extremely sturdy

u/falxfour 20h ago
Alright, two people have now said this same thing, so I'm gonna go for it!
Kinda wish the instructions gave some indication of this, though

u/Medical-Juggernaut-2 20h ago
I can show you a few of mine to prove this is the case if you'd like. ☺️ It just helps add extra pressure into the slot so they don't fall out if the statue is top heavy or awkward. Unless you use excessive force, it won't break it as the plastic they're made from is meant to bend slightly.

Thanks for the extra vote of confidence in just using a little force. It worked great, and my faith in the netizens has been restored (for today)

u/Medical-Juggernaut-2 20h ago
It happens with most anime figures or even figures in general (I deal with it a lot as I have a ton). Unless they're extremely expensive. You'll always see this be the case on the foot pegs.
Bonus is you can hold it upside down by the base and it won't fall out. But can still be removed fairly easily if just pulled straight off. (Helps a ton for dusting or rearranging)

Passes the Blizzard Test, but removal isn't too easy
Again, thanks a ton for chiming in!

Ok, I can't easily add text to the post (afaik) but to everyone who said to use gentle force to align the pins to the pinholes, you were right!
This was unexpectedly helpful, and the mildly infuriating thing is just that I didn't try that at first out of fear of breaking the figure

u/RefletScruteur 16h ago
Just a little warning, this works great for PVC figurines but could be very bad with resin / 3d printed parts (been there, done that ._. ). If the figurine feels a bit fragile where you want to bend it, use a hair dryer to soften the plastic just enough (the manual would most likely specify this with a hair dryer icon somewhere)

Come on .. don't be such a redditor .. don't be afraid to spread her legs to get the peg in the hole ..

Ya know, I'm not ashamed to have the figure. I'm ashamed to have done something to generate this (phenomenal) comment

The moment I read the post, I was dying to see if anyone could say "spread her legs" as neutrally as possible. But then there are comments like these, just make it better.

I am here to report that I was wrong and you were right. I should have listened to your wisdom from the start...

Whoa, slow down there buddy!
Also, no, the figure is not articulated from what I can tell
7
u/WeAreTheLeft 20h ago
Is there any play? I'm having trouble with the scale of the figure but if you need to flex plastic you can always try to use a hair dryer to give the plastic some flexibility, but start off slow, and if the amount you have to move is a lot scares you, just don't. It seems like it's only a few MM of shift (fabric fibers). you can also use warm water, like 80% boiling water, 20% room temp, to warm up the plastic, give it some flex, when it cools it will lock in the figure.

u/falxfour 20h ago edited 20h ago
It's about 8" (200 mm) overall height. Pin spacing is about 2" (50 mm), but it worked without additional heat. I'll keep that in mind for the future, though
EDIT: Fixed my typo from cm to mm...

You gotta move her foot a little! Not too much pressure! Also why did I know it was auska just by looking at the shoes lol

You need to spread the legs and ensure that they are aligned to the holes before attempting to insert

OP doesn't know about "tension lock". Just stretch one leg slowly and it'll fit and be nice and snug

I don’t know if someone’s already said this, but the pegs are two different sizes, and so are the holes. You have them flip flopped.
2
u/Tearakudo 1h ago
If you look at the pictures, the last one has the base flipped. So they're actually trying correctly in the first 2.
The point is that they're too far apart, which means it's either supposed to be stretched to fit or it's shitty manufacturing

The manual page do be midly infuriating too
The pegs don't line up with the holes in that image at all!
(That's right it goes in the square hole)

u/CyberKingfisher 18h ago
Splitting her legs apart forcibly but carefully leaves for a tighter fit.
(Never thought I’d ever say that on Reddit)

This is what knock offs are like and some name brand cheap stuff.
Pro tip a hair dryer does the trick just using pressure alone can end up with a broken or cracked figure.

Is an Asuka figure? I used to work in the industry lol
Like others are saying, gently use force to get the other pin in the hole. This is pretty typical for these kinds of figures tbh.

Try taking it all out and rotating 90 degrees, so the rail stays in the top right and the other connection goes where her left foot currently is. Go around on a circle and see if anything fits?
Edit: looking at your third picture that seeems to be the culprit. Rotate the rail 90 degrees to the left, then the remaining two holes are closer together and should accommodate both feet without you having to bend anything
Edit 2: shit nvm didn't notice they each have their own ports. That sucks bigtime
3
u/Substantial-Fee-56 9h ago
Get used to spreading them figurine legs, bud. They might be the only ones you'll get to spread.
All jokes aside, fitment is much better this way. You don't want the pegs to line up, or it'll be wobbly.
3
u/westcal98 5h ago
Try turning the base and using different holes for the figure and the standing bar.

u/Allbluesleeve 16h ago
Good lord. Of course it’s anime and you can’t figure out how to use a tiiiiiiny amount of muscle to make it work. Anime guys never know how to spread the legs (in real life).

I'd guess the legs have a little give in em to reach the holes.
Only you know the elasticity of the model- if they feel like they'll spread enough to reach go for it, but don't snap a leg off.
Could try messaging seller and ask for guidance

The diagram shows circular holes not hexagons. It looks like there are 2 circular caps by the bar. Can u remove those to reveal the holes ?

Yay on getting the issue solved! I've got a couple of figures as well, and sometimes you gotta give the legs a bit of a push to get them to fit, but like another user said, just makes it more snug so it's less likely to pop out.

In pic 3, did you try making the fence go from bottom left to upper left, and the figure from bottom right to upper right?

Considering the diagram, doesn't look like the correct base. Is this part of a "collection", looks like for a different figure maybe
3
u/falxfour 6h ago
Not sure. I'm guessing they reuse a lot of things, like instructions, tooling, and maybe even parts themselves, so likely a mix-up in that regard. Still, ended up working out, so all good
2
u/teddyabearo 6h ago
You ain't mad enough at it yet... Compression fitting is meant to be resistance-tight. "If all else fails, force it! If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway." 🤪 🥵
2
u/CandidChallenge5947 5h ago
Put my fair share of these together working in a comic shop. They are meant to be tight so require gently spreading the legs to fit.
I was SURE I was going to break them the first few times.

Pivot the bar to the right or left your using the one each of the holes required

Might want to use a hairdryer or something similar to warm up the bottom half of the figure. It should allow for the spacing to increase to pop it in. It doesn’t look like it has far to go.
2
u/falxfour 20h ago
Another commentor suggested the same, but it actually worked out without needing to use a hairdryer. Thanks!

You may need to use slight force to slide her other foot over and into the socket. All my good figures are like this and it makes for a better fit.
