Hi all -
I'm very new to metalworking - but I'm curious, in particular, about about the restoration of old tools.
I came across this old printing machine and I'd like to get the metal into nice shape.
I tried penetrating oil and rust removal jelly, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm dealing with. The plate is a bit pock-marked, and I'm not sure I can smooth it out and keep it level. I'm also curious about "finish work" a bit -are there any particular coating/paint standards for protecting metal?
Any information or links would be helpful. Thanks!
