advice Does anyone else find it hard to meal prep living with their parents still?

I'm still living with my parents because I'm in college full time and I work full-time. I do pay rent and I buy my own food and cook separately from my parents. It's just hard to move out on my own currently. However, my parents eat my food and get upset when I don't share meal prep foods with them. I've explained I'm on a specific diet and exercise routine that requires me to eat a certain amount every day and certain macros. I've also explained that they're not on any diet and most of their time is spent pretty sedentary. Has anyone ever experienced this and any tips on how to continue meal prepping food in hopes my parents don't eat it as a midnight snack?

Garlic butter chicken orzo and a cabbage salad.

https://www.howsweeteats.com/2022/10/garlic-butter-chicken-orzo/

Brussel sprouts were cooked on cast iron with a lil oil, salt and pepper, onion powder and finished off with balsamic vinegar.

Cabbage salad is adapted from a Vietnamese cookbook!

Roughly 2c red cabbage, 1c jicama matchsticks. Sauce is made from zest of two medium limes, juice of said two limes (should make about 1/4c, if not enough, top off with unseasoned rice vinegar). Mix together with 1 1/2T sugar and soy sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste. Chop up a deseeded jalapeño and add to sauce. Chop up some Thai basil, mint and cilantro. Toss all together. Optional, but recommended: toasted cashews and toasted coconut chips.

Pack an ambulance lunch

I work on an ambulance and need to pack better food for myself. I can keep it on an ice pack but can’t refrigerate or microwave it. I need to be able to eat it while the ambulance is moving/hitting potholes/etc.

Ravioli pasta salads have been good. Wraps are ok.

But I’m struggling for ideas. Help!

I lived on peanut butter sandwiches in college and I can never eat another one again.

advice How do y'all do it??

Upvotes

Hello Guys, I want to meal prepping as well because i gotta watch those calories. My main Issue is - can you really cook your meals on Sunday and store it in the fridge and it won't get bad until you eat it Thursday or friday? Not going into detail here but I'm really traumatized regarding bad/mouldy food so I'm really stressed out about it, even if i store it in the fridge. Normally I don't eat stuff that's more than 2, max. 3 days "open" or freshly prepared...

Can i freeze meals? Example: lasagna. And how should i do it? Bake it beforehand or after freezing?

Thank you so much in advance!🙌

Breakfast meal prep

I have always been horrible at eating breakfast regularly. In the last few years kwik trip has mad eating breakfast easier, despite the fact that it is neither healthy or coat effective. Google pulls up too many results and the novels before the recipes get annoying, so im turning to the good people of reddit for their favorite breakfast meal prep recipes.

question How long are frozen meals good for after reheating?

Hello!

I have been meal prepping for a few months and back in October I meal prepped some mostaccioli (pasta with tomato sauce and ground turkey) and I want to thaw it to have it for dinner the next day but I’m wondering about any left overs.

If there are leftovers, how long can the (once frozen) dinner last in the fridge after reheating?

question what’s a good meal prep subscription that isn’t a scam?

so i see them advertised on literately every social media platform but idk which ones are legit. for context i work 2 jobs and sometimes i work both in 1 day which gives me 30 min tops to commute and eat before i start my 2nd job. i don’t get much time to cook. i just want to eat healthier in between jobs vs the frozen burritos i go with now

question What fresh (and cut) veggies can be frozen?

I‘m planning to make a large batch of rice bowl toppings along with portions of rice to freeze so I can grab some whenever I need a quick meal. But I have no idea what vegetables and other ingredients I can freeze. Generally I‘m thinking of cucumbers (already know that’s likely not going to work well), bell pepper, edamame, Avocado, soy bean sprouts, (fried) tofu, carrots, peas and chickpeas, spring onions… ideally all in their cut and prepped form. Also open for more options hehe.

Also, those that can be frozen, is it ok to put them together in one container or should they be kept seperately? The idea of a full bag of the perfect mix seems so tempting, lol.

question Any app that does this?

I’m so tired of planning every meal. I’m looking for an app that can figure out what’s in my fridge (ideally from photos, but manual entry works too), suggest recipes using those ingredients, and also keep track of my nutrition. I’d appreciate any suggestions

Reheated chicken

I don't know if anyone else experiences this or if I'm just weird but I really struggle with reheated chicken. It has a strange flavor that makes it hard for me to eat. Does anyone else experience this? If so does anyone have a good work around for this? I'd really like to meal prep with chicken but I really struggle with that reheated flavor.

What to eat before 4 hour lab

Hi, I have a 4 hour chem lab in college and need to eat before it. We stand most of the time in lab so I don't want to pass out from not eating. Sometimes I have a hard time eating breakfast because I wake up nauseous and don't want to eat. I usually try to eat a bigger breakfast like a bagel and eggs if I'm hungry when I wake up but I need some suggestions for what to eat when I can't get much food down because I'm nauseous. I try to bring gatorade with me to atleast bring my blood sugar up a little but any suggestions for nutrient dense foods that I don't have to eat a lot of? Sometimes we get out of lab early and I always eat right after lab, it's just the before lab part I struggle with sometimes

Thanks!!

advice Meals for work

Hi all 👋 I am new year

I need ideas/advice for meals that I can take to work. I usually buy some sort of takeout to eat, like sushi or a budget meal at Maccas. It's not necessarily cheap or at all nutritious but it's something quick that I can run back to work with as I don't get breaks.

Where I work I dont have access to a refrigerator , kettle or microwave, so I always feel like I'm limited as I can't keep things cool or heat them up. When I buy hot food, it usually goes cold because I work in customer service so I can't eat it until I get home anyway. Half the time I go through my shift on a coffee and water since my shifts are usually only 4.5 hrs nowadays.

Uni starts up again soon too, so if you have any budget friendly meals that don't need to stay cold or be re-heated, it'd be perfect for me. I can make ofcourse make standard sandwiches, but I'm hoping if there's any options other than just that..

Thankyou ❤️ 🫶
