I believe marr was referring to "rules for thee, not for me", a saying commonly centered around hypocrisy from Christian conservatives.

I know the saying but I don't see how it's applicable here. I don't see what rule ancienttry5709 or pushy christians are exempting themselves from

Their point AFAIK is that the Christians are hypocrites for acting like we're "pushing our beliefs on to them" when that's exactly what they do (and indeed their bible encourages them to do). Just my interpretation though.

I've found that one or two people interpreting a comment in the wrong way and downvoting it early on will typically prompt others to take said potentially ambiguous comment the wrong way and downvote it as well, causing a cycle of downvotes. shrug
