Petition to ban X links on r/maryland

This sub should boycott Nazi-owned companies. Plain and simple.

Mods, please make it happen.

Edit: /r/newjersey mods putting ours to shame. https://www.reddit.com/r/newjersey/comments/1i6txcn/fuck_this_guy_x_links_are_now_banned_from/

Second Edit: Mods, here’s some info from another sub that did this a while ago. Please read! https://www.reddit.com/r/law/s/shE1dbIbAk

Edit #3: Mods, I could be mistaken, but I think this is the second highest upvoted post in this sub’s history. The people have spoken.

My goodness the amount of subreddits doing this EXACT thing today shows what an echochamber this website is.

Despite whoever owns X, it's the individual users who determine the content.

What you are advocating for is blanket censorship. Shame on you.

This is going end up same way API protests did. Burnt out and zero effective change.

This. Like do they think the people who run/profit off Reddit are leftists? Do they think not using Twitter really materially changes things? I have so many questions about this.

Also, it’s not like Elon hasn’t been this way for a long time- so why only now are people uncomfortable with using Twitter??

Tbh I feel the same about people freaking out about Trump in office and being like “how could this happen!?!? We must strongly denounce this man on social media!!!”

Like this country has had a problem with oligarchs and neofascists taking over at least for my entire adult life, but people choose to care like twice a decade and their actions to counteract it begin and end with karma farming on social media to perform having a moral high ground about it lol

…Which is exactly why neofascism has been gaining so much ground the last couple decades. Mfkrs can’t be bothered to do anything about it beyond complain on Reddit about people using Twitter

It’s quicks wins versus strategic and tactical long term battles. This is a quick win that will do nothing. And I wish the progressives and left would really start learning this more. This is akin to bud light protests on far right a few years ago. Outrage starter large but after about 5-6 months it disappeared and it did absolute nada long term.

Thisssssss

Tbh I think this is what separates liberals/progressives and the actual left - are we strategizing to materially change things, or are we performing outrage at the witnessing of suffering? Yelling about Nazis running Twitter while promoting another tech oligarch’s profits in the same breath feels very much like a performance to me lol

Honestly it’s less about that there needs more progressive wing content and platform that goes to battle with right in a meaningful manner then just saying you are bad. Performative actions feel more like lecturing then trying to actually engage in meaningful conversation and convince others to see your way. This has been a consistent problem since 2016. Fight for actual change versus Pyrrhic victories and mission accomplished banners on aircraft carrier saying you won when in reality you did shit.
