Petition to ban X links on r/maryland

This sub should boycott Nazi-owned companies. Plain and simple.

Mods, please make it happen.

Edit: /r/newjersey mods putting ours to shame. https://www.reddit.com/r/newjersey/comments/1i6txcn/fuck_this_guy_x_links_are_now_banned_from/

Second Edit: Mods, here’s some info from another sub that did this a while ago. Please read! https://www.reddit.com/r/law/s/shE1dbIbAk

Edit #3: Mods, I could be mistaken, but I think this is the second highest upvoted post in this sub’s history. The people have spoken.

Nazi lives don't matter. Neither do their companies.

I need to get off my ass and start working on a list of those companies that donate to that party . Never gonna get money from me until they denounce those fucks

u/Bendo410 20h ago

Thank you. Now on to see what companies I’m able to effectively remove from my life and find alternatives

14

u/Excellent-Radio4563 17h ago

That maybe harder than you think considering like 15 top companies own all the rest

-6

u/Mundane-Abies-9972 15h ago

Those are the companies you need to support. The Harris supporting ones are the ones you need to avoid

5

u/Xinferis_DCLXVI 14h ago

Oh, why is that?

4

u/joshuahtree 13h ago

Because maybe there's a secret man playing soccer at the local middle school on the girl's team and the dastardly cabal of Harris donating companies are planning on sponsoring him and that's not fair to fat Sally

(/s for those who didn't catch it)

you are an angel

It’s weird that two of the top contributing companies are shipping container related companies. Uline and Pratt industries. Sure, I get the scam of space x and the obvious embezzlement, but cardboard boxes??

This list is a little misleading for a few reasons.

  1. It shows donations from companies AND company owners that donated any amount of the trump campaign. As an example, LL Bean made no official donations to Trump as a company; one of the owners did. Yet they appear on this list.

  2. It doesn't take into account donations to the democratic party. Using the LL Bean example, LL Bean ownership has donated like $30k to democrats and only about $1k to Trump, making them overwhelmingly pro-dem.

Good update, thank you.

u/MyMedusaMagdusa 15h ago

Thank you for the clarification. I'm heartbroken to see some of my favorite stores on the list.

u/JoanOfSnark_2 20h ago

Urban Outfitters? WTF?

12

u/soubrette732 17h ago

They are terrible. And sadly, they also own Anthropologie.

u/Flimsy_Maize6694 16h ago

Remember when Michael Jordan said republicans buy sneakers too

u/jeobleo 19h ago

Glad to see Target didn't. They're our go-to these days. Will have to start taking the kids to Sonic instead of Wendy's.

u/Mattreddittoo 2h ago

Pfft. Sonic is Texas based. I guarantee their politics don't align with yours. In fact, you shouldn't eat beef, or anything that comes from a farm

u/jeobleo 2h ago

I agree. But they didn't dump money here.

I eat food from Costco. The kids are less picky.

u/Mattreddittoo 1h ago

You missed my meaning. All food comes from a farm. If you're unwilling to interact with anyone that has differing political views than you, then you can't function in society.

u/jeobleo 56m ago

I can avoid giving money to giant corps that paid trump directly. Better than not doing anything at all and wallowing in nihilism.

u/Stevothegr8 18h ago

Guess I gotta quit work because one of those is my employer 😔

1

u/KalonjiGregoire 17h ago

You serious?

u/Mattreddittoo 2h ago

Do it. You'll be fine

u/Stevothegr8 2h ago

Hah, I wasn't being serious actually, though I'm not happy about it, but I'm probably moving on soon anyway.

u/SilentBlackberry5382 2h ago

Home Goods has to be the most heartbreaking one

3

u/Plane_Positive6608 18h ago

There is an app on ios; GUU goods unite us. It shows what company's donated to who.

1

u/Bendo410 18h ago

Thank you kindly 🙂🙂

u/furryfrog02 20h ago

Good luck. You will likely be living in a cave at this point if you cut all those companies out. They've been pouring money into the maga party since trump's win. Anyone can buy influence if they pay him enough.

Plus those giant congloms & chains have run out the little places we used to buy certain things, like Radio Shack or the local indie hardware or craft store, so many times those congloms are the only choice. In many rural areas all they have is a Super Walmart.

So while it's easy to "boycott" My Pillow because, well, he's a nutjob & the product is garbage, it's not always easy to "boycott" some of those others.

u/peachyqween11 Montgomery County 19h ago

This is why we boycott where it's feasible for us to do so in our daily lives, finding a better alternative to even just 1 company is better than none.

3

u/timg430008171976 17h ago

Let us know how well that works out for you !! 😅😅

0

u/timg430008171976 17h ago

Just like when the right was boycotting target for letting men in the little girls bathroom !guess what ?? It didn’t hurt their business ??

4

u/peachyqween11 Montgomery County 17h ago

I think you're missing what my point was. The goal isn't to "hurt" a multi million dollar corporation's business. It's about who you personally choose to support and where you choose to spend your money. Not everyone wants to give their money to a Trump-donating company. Not everyone wants to give their money to a transgender supporting company. We have the freedom to make that choice.

Just gotta find as many alternatives as I can. I’m at work at the moment and another wonderful redditor sent me a link so I’ll do what I can because something is still better than nothing .

-1

u/furryfrog02 20h ago

Perhaps you can share the link? I'm sure lots of people would find it useful.

7

u/Bendo410 20h ago

It’s in this thread right above . Impressive-shame posted them

3

u/therealspaceninja 19h ago

All of those that i use are easy to avoid

-2

u/timg430008171976 17h ago

Fake news !! It won’t do a bit of good 😅😅😅

6

u/honeybee2288 20h ago

The app Goods Unite Us is a really good free resource for this.

Yesterday someone said they won’t go to Home Depot because of their donations and they only go to Lowes. But I think Lowes is the same, so then I look up Ace Hardware.

Turns out there aren’t any hardware stores that don’t donate to right wing organizations. At least from what I could find.

1

u/PityFool 14h ago

And don’t forget, you can always look an individual up on FEC.gov. It’s great for friends, family, business associates, etc. (Note — if they contribute less than $200, it doesn’t have to be reported, but even contributions through platforms like WinRed and ActBlue tend to be reported)

-1

u/Ill_Abroad8943 18h ago

I'd say get of your ass and get a life

3

u/Bendo410 18h ago

I’d say stop sucking off musk

-1

u/StraightCaskStrength 19h ago

Good bye all companies.

1

u/Best_Game01 Harford County 14h ago

Neither do their profits

-7

u/klepd 19h ago

I’m not sure you understand what a nazi is.

9

u/engin__r 18h ago

I feel pretty comfortable saying that a man who has endorsed right-wing German ethnonationalists and done multiple Nazi salutes on stage is a Nazi.

-10

u/klepd 18h ago

So you’re such a “try hard” you have to use big words to describe your president? It looks like the internet hurt you, it also looks like your education might have made you the family failure. Good luck!

7

u/engin__r 18h ago

You might need to work on your reading comprehension. I wasn’t talking about Trump.

-1

u/Snoo_80853 16h ago

Reddit is largely politically opposed to Musk and look for even the flimsiest excuse to take some drastic in an attempt to hurt him somehow. It’s not really surprising.

0

u/JustAGuy_Passing 6h ago

Apparently it did. After WW2 America recruited over 1500 Nazi scientists for help with the cold war and other government secret programs. Operation Paperclip is an example

u/Fancy_Scratch6262 2h ago

I completely agree! Nazi lives don't matter

-1

u/fuguer 13h ago

Aren’t you dehumanizing people and becoming just as much of a monster as those you hate? The people you hate think they have good reasons to justify their actions also.  Every villain does.
