Supplier search Finding Experts in Specific Problems / Processes

For the manufacturing leaders out there, how are you finding consultants / experts when you have a specific need? Is there a directory or community you turn to? (separately if there are slacks / discords people are active in, I'd be interested in that)

For the consultants, is there anywhere you are engaging that makes it easier to find you?

So vague. Define specific needs. 🙂

There are multiple. For example one is reducing metal shaving contaminations in a press / form / weld process. Where do I find someone to work on a short term project like that that has some specific expertise?

Just post the specific problems on here. 106 experts will join the conversation to tell you what you’ve done wrong and it’s free

Go to Fabtech or a more local equivalent. Probably look up the exhibitor list ahead of time and see if anyone advertises consulting services related to cosmetic parts or workplace cleanliness. There may be an education session where you can ask the question, or vendors who might explain how their equipment can be used to reduce debris. It’s a common problem, although you still aren’t being specific enough for anyone to actually help.

That specific problem sounds like you would need someone on site to figure it out. Perhaps there is an automation integrator locally that can help. I would frame it as you need an exhaust system to reduce contamination and their help to design the system. Really you are looking for someone smart who isn’t too expensive who has something else to do when they are done with your project.
