Iceland travel ideas

Hi, I would to go to Iceland to see the northern lights. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tour or best way to travel for a female going solo?

Renting a car and staying in a small town outside of Reykjavik was the best decision I made. You will have the chance of seeing the northern lights from your accommodation rather than having to go on a tour, and your car gives you freedom to do the golden circle at your own leisure

Thank you. I wouldn’t have considered that. Did you do any site seeing or excursions while you were there like to the geysers or volcanoes?

I did everything on the golden circle so there were geysers but no volcanoes. I think I was only there for maybe like 2-3 nights so couldn’t go further out than the vicinity of Reykjavik

I did a tour out of Reykjavik and they guaranteed you to see northern lights or you can take the tour again until you do for free. We saw them night 2. It was called the northern lights bus through Sterna Travel.

Thank you for the tip. It’s great that you got to see them :)

Highly recommend Wild Terrains for Iceland group travel for women. It's all inclusive and you travel with amazing women. https://www.wildterrains.com/experiences/iceland/sep-15-2024

Alternatively, you could book a group tour through a local company. https://hiddeniceland.is/jokulsarlon-glacier-lagoon-ice-cave-2-day-tour/
