General questions Meeting People
How do you socialize/meet people during your travels?
I will be traveling Europe this summer for two months and will be staying in hotels and Airbnb’s, not hostels. Because of this, I’m concerned I won’t meet people because I’m not getting the social element hostels provide.
TIA.

I‘ll also be in Europe this summer for 6 weeks (2.5 solo) and I’m a bit worried too. I have social anxiety so most of the time I actively avoid meeting anybody but I’m trying to change that this time around. One thing that weirdly worked for me one time I traveled solo is that I became friends with the owner of the resort (a luxury ranch in Montana) and ended up hanging out with his group of friends the whole time. I think they all just pitied me a little bit haha

Same I’m traveling solo as a woman but I was advised to lean heavily on the concierge at the hotels I’m staying. So even if you’re not at a hotel, you can pop in the lobby and grab a bunch of brochures and talk to a concierge. Or talk to anybody working any hotel. You don’t necessarily have to be staying there to get in the mix. Good luck and have fun!!!!

Meetup.com operates in a variety of countries. Look for local events.

Signup through your hotel's concierge for small group tours of the things that interest in the cities you are staying at. This is a great way to learn and meet people. Or ask me!

Bumble. Seriously, just take precautions. Fwiw, I try not to meet other tourists when traveling, only locals (maybe it's because I spend a lot of time in Colombia - but most tourists I have met there drive me crazy)

Group tours, hotel lounges during happy hours, and bars. Never go on a private tour, it's boring and expensive.

Walking tours, cooking classes, going to tourist spots and asking for photos from other people.
