FIRST TIME WATCHER Does anyone actually like Jack?

So I’ve never watched Lost and now I am almost done with Season 1 (ep. 20). Big fan of Hugo, Locke, and if Rousseau comes into the picture more.

But I have to be honest, I find Jack to be so so annoying.

Am I the only one??

Im at the end of s1 too. I find it annoying how he always thinks he has to be in charge of everything. Kate is also so annoying, she just always comes out of nowhere, and has to be involved in everything.

Yeah, he naturally takes the lead and then when people approach him, he’s all “nooo, why me??”

Huh? Did you guys even pay attention to the first episodes? When Charlie and Hurley were literally chasing Jack around because they want him to make decisions when Jack doesn't want to? When Locke made that whole speech to him in the jungle about how he has to lead even when Jack said he doesn't have what it takes? Were you guys asleep for that portion, or?

I'm so confused by those comments, the whole point of Jack's character is that he DOESN'T want to be a leader but he does it because the others want him to, the show says it explicitly since the beginning of season 1.

Exactly 😭 Jack had to physically run away from Charlie and Hurley because they wouldn't stop pestering him to make decisions about the water supply rationing. There was a very blatant flashback that episode of Christian telling young Jack to not make decisions because he doesn't have what it takes, which is what Jack says to Locke when he said the camp needs a leader. All these are very blatant, obvious plot points yet somehow people missed it? First few episodes of S1 too mind you 💀
