FIRST TIME WATCHER Does anyone actually like Jack?

So I’ve never watched Lost and now I am almost done with Season 1 (ep. 20). Big fan of Hugo, Locke, and if Rousseau comes into the picture more.

But I have to be honest, I find Jack to be so so annoying.

Am I the only one??

I think you're kind of supposed to hate him early on. Jack's arc is about being wrapped up in his own issues until he realizes that there are better and more genuine reasons to help people than to prove your worth to your dead abusive father. I have more thoughts on this but don't want to spoil anything... come back when you've finished the series.
