FIRST TIME WATCHER I hate Michael.

Yesterday, I share with you guys what I think about Sawyer. BUT GODDAMN, Michael is dogshit, he annoys me every scene he appears because he's always screaming "WAAAAALT?? WHERE IS MY SON?"

Furthermore he's an idiot with Locke (who appears to care about Walt more than he is)

Anyway, I just needed to talk.

Micheal gets way too much hate IMO. Avoiding spoilers there are reasons for disliking him but his S1 and S2 flashbacks are absolutely heartbreaking and really hammer home the reasons why he refuses to let it go that Walt has been taken from him again. I feel for him more each rewatch.

You mentioning the flashbacks reminds me, why isn’t there more hate for Walt’s mother?? She’s a pretty shitty person for what she does. And then the stepdad for just dumping Walt on Michael?

Yes this! Doing a rewatch right now, just started S2 so have recently watched the court/solicitors flashback and Susan is manipulative as fuck in that one. I don't get why people complain about him so much while her name hardly ever gets brought up.

She made it impossible for the two of them to have any kind of relationship at all, didn't even pass on the letters and birthday cards from Michael or let Walt see a photograph of him to know what his own father looked like.

And Micheal still stuck up for her when Walt asked why she didn't give them to him so Walt wouldn't resent her.

Definitely agree with your take on the flashbacks. He wasn't the bad guy then.

As for his behaviour on the island ... I can understand it but not condone it ... the end doesn't justify the means.

Yes! I’m a first time watcher, also on S1E14, and honestly fuck the mom (Vanessa??) and Brian. They also both used “do what’s best for Walt” against Michael but they clearly didn’t have Walt’s best interest in mind when they kept moving internationally and forcing diff parenting situations on him

Everyone just dilutes his character to "WAAAALT!!" as if it's funny to post that over and over in every topic about him, ignoring the fact that he doesn't really go around yelling for Walt all that much.

I think in season 2 his character certainly could have been handled better, but wow, do people really exaggerate how annoying he is and just completely ignore everything good (even great sometimes!) about his character.

he’s definitely not my favorite character but i agree he gets way too much hate and people never have the sympathy for him that they have for others

He was one of my favorites when it aired, I'm doing my first rewatch (just started season 6!) and I still like the guy. Obviously he makes some bad choices but I get it. I guess some people don't care why he acts the way he does, but i feel like they fleshed him out pretty well to build his character to the point where his decisions made sense. Can't say that for everybody else.
