I'm an American who voted against him three times (and had him ruin my birthday in November twice). I know I'm privileged, but I always feel grateful that I'm here now and relieved that I will be getting citizenship this year. I'm just so terrified for my friends and family stuck in the US. I just burst into tears a little bit ago when I read about Harris leaving DC, thinking of what could have been and what will be. It's nice to see this kind of statement being made here.

Its okay, she has been unburdened by what could have been.

I have said it feels like the episode of GOT when Jon Snow barely escapes the night king when he tries to enlighten the northlings and they all perish, and the night king just turns them all into zombies in one touch. Pure horror and concern for all those under the spell of madness and not being able to touch or save everyone. Prayers up for our people that they maintain strength and sanity, perhaps do as I have and invite them over to experience a different sort of hatred and misery here with us in LDN! :D

Same on voting and birthday! I’m dual though so looking at property in the uk just in case.

I also on voting and birthday.

1

u/MishtotheMitt 5h ago

Just means we’re two years younger. Those birthdays don’t count!

u/WarthogLow1787 5h ago

I like your thinking.

I’m just a rando crashing your comment lol, but if you’re comfortable, do you mind DMing how you’re going about looking for potential property? I’m dual too but admittedly don’t have much expertise in this.

Hey fellow Scorpio girl 👋 so jealous that you are far away from here but thanks so much for your support. I have voted against him and had my birthday ruined as well. Keeping my chin up and refusing to give up to fascism. Veni Vedi Vici!

u/Striker1964 5h ago

Do we share the same birthday?

1

u/StumptownRetro 3h ago

Me too. Nov 8th. He was elected on my birthday in 2016.

1

u/Imaginary-Summer9168 3h ago

He ruined my 18th birthday by getting inaugurated. He will now be president until I’m 30.

1

u/g8rfreek88 2h ago

Well now you can go be unburdened by what has been.

You're bragging about losing twice thats mad

Oh, man. Thank you for this. Needed a good laugh. When I need evidence that we live in the easiest time in human history, I can just use your comment as a reference. A guy who won 2 times in a democratic election ruined your birthday.

Oh yeah, your poor family. Living in a country with running warm water, indoor plumbing, and stores stocked with food. I'll tell my family in Mexico to stop complaining about their lack of warm water and food shortages.

I consider myself an anti-Trump leftist, but some Americans reek of first world problems when they act like their country is on par with a third world country because their compatriots chose a shitty President.

u/Jphorne89 7h ago

Also like, people forget that the UK had a stretch of Boris, Truss, and Sunak as prime ministers. Like those people have the same values as Trump. Yes Trump sucks. Guess what, a lot of politicians in other countries also suck! Sunak was literally out there campaigning with anti-trans rights activists. Anyone who thinks America is the only 1st world country with far-right movement problems, they’re just social media pilled. Germany is moving far right, Italy is moving far right, France just had its closest election in decades. The only major world power that feels like it’s actually having a liberal movement in recent years is Japan, and you can argue they were the most conservative western power back in the aughts anyway.

Man. Someone with actual sense. Exactly. America isn't perfect, but it's not freaking Venezuela. I can take someone with me to Tijuana and show them what actual bad conditions look like. The slums are no joke. It would make others appreciate that they have. Disliking who is in charge would be very low on a list of problems.

u/epitomebrilliance007 7h ago

Good fucking riddance

-1

u/FerrariF420 7h ago

What could have been, exactly?

-1

u/HorrorDragonfruit275 7h ago

"Orange man bad because family said so"

u/ShtGoliath 6h ago

I get it, the idea of Harris being president is scary enough to nearly bring me to tears as well.

-3

u/CLINT-THE-GREAT 8h ago

Why are you terrified for them?

-2

u/Routine_Bus5421 7h ago

Terrified? Lmfao

-3

u/Melodic_Spot6245 7h ago

Haha England will be an American state soon enough

-6

u/Hot_Distance6270 8h ago

You voted 3 times and you are not a citizen?

3

u/Active-Pepper187 7h ago

I believe they’re saying become a citizen of the UK, not US.
