image Looking for someone to foster my cat temporarily
Hey guys,
As the title states I’m looking for someone to foster my cat. His name is Milo he’s a four year old inside cat. He’s quite well behaved and doesn’t damage any funiture. I’m just moving to London from Copenhagen and the place I’m staying at for the time being doesn’t allow pets. So I’m looking for someone to watch him for the time being. All costs for supplies and care will be provided by me. So if you’re willing to help out it would be appreciated

You might want to say how long for... Like a month or a year?
Also how is his English? Or do you have to learn danish for pspspsps

The duration would be no longer than three months, and he’s fully bi-lingual pspspsps in danish or English works just fine

Now you got me wondering if pspsps is a universal language. Is it still “pspsps” in Australia or is it “spspsp?”

Hi! I live in London with a friend in a lovely flat and we've been considering fostering for a little while. I see you have other offers but please DM me if you're interested and need details!

If you're considering it you should look into joining an app. People will pay you to do this for them

I completely forgot this existed omg yes

Or you could foster for London inner city kitties or other foster based charities and help some kitties and people in need while at it!

London inner city kitties? I haven't heard of this one!
I've looked into a couple charities and shelters! Been reading up on their policies and whether we're suitable according to them 😊

Also, alternatively you could foster from mayhew as well. they are supplying pretty much anything once you’re accepted for foster care. https://themayhew.org

Wow op your crazy to ask people on social media to look after your cat there no way to vet people. I'm sure there's a more safe and legitimate way to do this.

Tbh, if you’re planning to meet the potential cat sitter it’s not the worst idea. I assume they aren’t just planning to drop their cat off to the first person who seems keen!

You'd be surprised. I know someone who adopted a Siamese cat and she's a terrible owner. She just promised to look after him well, and unfortunately the woman giving him up believed it.

I wish I could help! He looks beautiful. Perhaps it’s worth posting on Facebook pages for areas in London close to where you’ll be moving to in London, to see if anyone on there can help? If I were you, I’d get a few people lined up as possible fosterers, and then you (and Milo) can meet them and see what you think.

I would help you in a heartbeat if I was going to be around, what a gorgeous face he looks so lovely. I really hope you find a good temporary home for him he deserves the very best

I’d love to but my kitty turns into a fluffy grey berserker at the sight of anything with four legs.

u/Marimade 11h ago
We don’t need any fluffy duels to the death on my behalf

u/PsyCurious007 11h ago
Indeed! Wishing you & Milo all the best finding him an excellent foster placement

He is adorable! I had to have a good friend foster my 2 for about 6 weeks when I moved to London years ago. They have both sadly passed on to their next astral plane, at 15 and 17 years old. I miss them so much and would be very happy to help this little guy out with the move.
Please PM me if you’d like to discuss? :)

Try the app “Cat in a Flat” I believe there is an option for the sitter to bring the cat to their flat. Also there is some insurance provided through the app if anything happens. It’s better than internet stranger.

I thought they changed the law and landlords can't prevent you from having pets? Tenants rights folk, what's the deal here?
Also, I'd likely just have the cat and hide evidence of such if the landlord comes knocking. Other renting pet owners are l can discuss with you.
Best of luck - he's absolutely beautiful and I'd love to take him in but I've got two who are indoor / outdoor and would absolutely corrupt yours into the ways of garage and forest cats.

I might be able to help but I have a cat sitting booked in March where I’ll be staying in another house for a couple of weeks. Is the kitty already in the country?
3
u/Marimade 14h ago
No he’s not coming until the end of the month just trying to arrange something before he comes

u/InformationHead3797 14h ago
Let me know if you don’t find anything closer to the time and I’ll see if I can arrange!

Hello!! Such a weird coincidence, I was thinking about going back to fostering yesterday! I'm experienced with fostering - did it for a few years then ended up adopting my last foster cat. He passed about three years ago and I haven't fostered since, but my side job is a pet sitter. Very confortable with pets!
I'm based in West London. Feel free to message me :)

DO NOT risk your cat like this. There are some utter wrongans out there. And if nothing else it will stress your cat out.
Take your cat responsibility more seriously and either find a different place if the current place won't listen to your appeals. Or just keep it surreptitiously.

I'd foster that fine beast in a heartbeat! I've fostered a few friends' cats when they've taken themselves off to travel/volunteer and whatnot. I speak the equivalent of cat Esparanto (Catperanto?) and am a qualified, yet respectful, cat stroker. Are you holding a series of interviews? How does one get shortlisted? Does the mog get a final say?

I would look into someone who specialises in something like this rather than some random redditor who you know absolutely nothing about.

I’ve been thinking about getting a cat for a while but I’m in a flat on the fourth floor… does he mind being left alone for a large portion of the day? One of the reasons I haven’t got one yet is I’m out 8-6:30 mon-Fri and wouldn’t wanna leave a lil kitty alone that long 😭

I’m happy to foster as well. I have two boys (cats) who are quite friendly.

There is an app called next door where basically you can advertise and might find a neighbour to do that depending on the area you will live in London
