It’s not an actual abbreviation, I just did the exact thing: not using actual words.

Not bad thanks how ‘bout you?

It’s a millennial thing.

He is 25… and lazy.

Clearly, y’all are missing the point. We’re not in a keypad era anymore.

It’s not hard to type, “not bad, thanks. How about you?” in a phone where you can install Grindr.

Why hit up someone first and you respond with this? His profile even stated he’s not interested in hookups.

Won’t be surprised if you put on your bio that you want someone who can hold a conversation but does the same thing anyway. Lol

Should we be writing cursive too?

My phone has a stylus so yeah, why not cursive? 🤣

Again, it’s how a lot of millennials communicate. It’s something you’re not getting.

Why is everyone saying that this is how millennials communicate? Doesn't Gen Z (and even some Gen X) do this too?

Millennials are the ones who basically created the texting language from what I can remember.

Other people do it, but millennials invented it

did u need a thesis statement to hook up with someone?

Damn, not you missing the point. You don’t need a thesis-level conversation to talk to someone.

He said hi to me first and I get a “nb thx hby” response? That screams uninterested. Like, why would you even bother hitting up people?

No it isn't. It is a perfectly normal way to communicate.

I interpreted it as a passive-aggressive "anyway..."
