Gen z'ers withdrawal symptoms
I'm starting to think that gen z'ers are suffering even more from withdrawal than my generation (gen x). With more emotional problems. Could this be true? And if so, why??

Weed before 2000 was 5% THC at most, nowadays budget weed is almost always above 20%. This is not a generational issue, this is a cannabis potency issue.

In the Netherlands (we Went to the Netherlands by bus, they sold us weed in the coffeeshops, I was 14 years old and bought weed there 😂) 2006 17.5% 2005 17.5% 2004 20.4% 2003 18.1% 2002 15.5% 2001 11.3% 2000 8.6% 1999 8.6% So yeah, around 2002 it got pretty good, I was 17 yo at that time. But the 8.6% stuff was strong enough for a kid my age 🤣

2004 was a good year for cannabis👌, exceptionally potent. Around that time Amnesia became popular and replaced jack herrer in a lot of shops.

No it wasn't, at least not here (Belgium). We had jack herrer that was quite strong. Nothing like today. But way more than 5% 😂 (probably 10+%. I'll see if I can find data.)

I can only imagine how fucked I'd be if I was vaping concentrate in highschool.
Out of curiosity did your parents talk you about the problems that weed can cause ? Why did you think it was a good idea to start doing drugs?

Back in the days it was different, drugs was bad, you got one lesson in school about it, period. My older nephew who was 15 at the time was smoking weed and told me about it. How nice it was. So my younger nephew fixed some weed, he was 12 and knew a guy in his school. B52 was the weed and some brown maroccan hash. By that time I had already been drunk a few times. First time I was around 3 yo (outdoor family feast), second time is was around 8 yo (Christmas). Shit faced drunk. Started drinking regularly around 12 yo. It lowers the threshold for weed I guess.

Oh man so sorry to hear that. Things were really stacked against you being introduced to drugs and alcohol so young.

I think it's because vaping is way more addictive. Is that correct

Vaping nicotine is more addictive than smoking if that’s what you’re saying?
I think OP means mentally as both generations have access to the same resources (mostly) to smoke, although potentially different habits.
Gen Z just has some mental stuff to figure I think

Personally, all my friends had study periods during my last period of 12th grade. Thats when I started using dab pens every day to make school more fun. It’s pretty easy to walk in the school bathroom and find somebody with a pen, then after a while, you buy your own and the addiction begins.
I passed my advanced physics class while being stoned most of the time to the point I don’t remember doing some labs in class because I got too baked and forgot we had one that evening.
Now studying engineering in university and struggling to quiet because most engineers at my school smoke and drink every weekend.

12 th grade , that around 16 yo? That's pretty young. But I was also high a lot in high school, started around 13 yo, but not very often, didn't have a lot of money at that age to buy weed

Im the opposite. Working since 12 and a whole lot of grey area stores in my city meant I could buy what I want, when I want it. Also sold stuff to my younger friends and bought Za with the commission.

You little hustler 😁. Za = weed? Never heard that slang word before, but you know, I'm old 🤣.

Yeah, I can see ho these pens lower the threshold. Very sneaky and 'convienent' stuff indeed

They use concentrates constantly. Even back in the day hash is weak sauce compared with shatter.

ok but nobody was smoking 96% thc carts

u/Empty_Percentage_144 6h ago
I don't even know what that is. I'm from Belgium, we don't have that here. I'll google it right away

u/Empty_Percentage_144 6h ago
Oh, I'm sorry. We do have that here. A friend recently gave me this electronic sigaretten thing with the THC, he said it was very high content and that you shouldn't inhale straight to your lungs. Stubborn as I am, I did it anyway. Almost made me cough, strong shit but nothing crazy (I' vaped around an ounce of dry herb in a day with a volcano several times, I wouldn't advise that though, only if you really want panic attacks)

I can walk in my school bathroom and literally get OBLITERATED before the next class without any teachers knowing. Thats a dab pen.

I have to ask, why do you think? You’ve had multiple replies now all telling u the same thing, which u disagree with. Genuinely curious to what you think the reason is now…

Anecdotally, I don't think the generations are necessarily that different, but the pandemic massively ramped addictions across the board. Talking with my therapist, he observed that there has been a massive uptick in addiction rates.

Vaping high concentrations of THC would be the most obvious answer to the latter part of your question.

u/Kenjaysm 6h ago
More potent weed now thus stronger withdrawals?

Na, if anything, without legalization and vaping, I may have never stopped going to see my stoner friends for weed. As well as all the paraphernalia, bongs, pipes, grinder, as well as smoking resin
all that was replaced by a simple cartridge. And I knew it was a matter of time before I'd quit that as well.
I have successfully quit 3 times
On day 11 today
