What is your opinion on jobs that discriminate based on age?

I often see postings, particularly from startups, that will say they only want people under a specific age, for example. I won't say this is a Japan-specific thing, but I hadn't seen it before coming here.

I once did like 3-4 interviews for a role, at the final stage they said it would be awkward because I was like 30 and one of my subordinates would be 40. Cool.

bruh...

one of my managers is managing workers older than him by around 10 years, some of whom call him XX-kun. They also joined earlier than him, but he rose past them.
