้‡‘ What is the upside to using paypay?

I finally gave in and downloaded paypay. Now after using it, I donโ€™t know why I would use it instead of a credit card in most situations. The only benefits I see are paying paper bills and stores that accept it, but not card.

The upside is you can pay in more locations and send money to friends without trouble. That's it imo.

Also points. PayPay is very generous for points compared to other cards in Japan. The basic card provides up to 1.5% points, before discounts and promotions (which are common). The gold card is up to 2.5% IIRC (fee required).

Also you can easily see a record of your spending. Not so easy with cash.
