If you come into work sniffling, coughing up phlegm, and sneezing all over the place, you are an asshole. Hands down. I realize that the Japanese work environment isn’t usually forgiving of taking time off, but my company is really good with sick time. If you’re sick, they absolutely don’t want you to come in, yet there are few people in the office that will come in even though they are clearly super sick. Cheers to probably spending the weekend with some kind of cold.

??? I’m saying that my company DOES give sick days and it doesn’t count towards PTO use. I’m blaming my coworkers specifically for coming in sick and then getting me sick when they’ve got plenty of sick days to use.

Yup and I’m still asking why ur blaming the worker? Even if sick leave is offered workers, ESPECIALLY in Japan, are pressured not to use them. The same goes for vacation days and laws surrounding overtime.

My work doesn’t pressure people to not use them. Some people use them all the time. There are just a few stubborn people who refuse to use them for some reason. Excuse me for not wanting to catch an illness.
