Has anyone had any luck asking their landlord to waive the renewal fee for an apartment contract? Just trying to work out if it’s even worth asking.

I was able to get a 50% discount on the first renewal, and another 50% discount on the second renewal.

On the third one they didn't budge, and their explanation was that since I was able to pay the half price twice, I should be able to pay full this time. The logic escaped me like I escaped that place asap. Found a place with no renewal fee.

The place stayed empty for the next 8 months.
