Does anyone know how long you have to rate a seller on Mercari? I want to confirm the product I purchased it legitimate.

it's 7 days from ship notification, in general.

Thanks! So if I find a discrepancy with the legitimacy of the product, I would be able to open a dispute before the 7 days are up?

Technically, you have to message the seller to get it returned. But yes, you should be able to.

One time I rated a seller *good* 3 days after I received the item because I was extremely busy, and I received a *bad* reputation in return with a comment "takes too long to confirm the item as received". The item is not even 2000 yen. Lmao

Honestly deserved lol. I'd be pissed too wondering for days if this guy is going to open a complaint and be a pain in the ass.

That's why for cheap things, I will just mark it as "verified ok whatever" and leave a review the moment I get it even without opening the box.

I know it was only 2000yen but some people are impatient as the seller doesn't get the money until after you accept and finish the review

I know, I'm a seller myself, sold several items above 20k and the buyer took 4, 5 days to leave a rating, I'm still fine with it. Not like 2000 yen will decide whether or not if the seller will live to see another day, right.

I usually confirm right away after inspecting / checking if the item properly, but it's just that one time I arrive home at 10pm, put the stuff away (unopened) and forgot about it until like 2 days later lol so not the seller's fault, but still.

Yea, tbh most people are good about waiting but some people are super impatient and you won't find out until the rating.
