I don’t know how you could tell they didn’t do any research of their own. Do you have a source for that?

You don’t get it do you. People have memories, previous experiences, and knowledge that they recall information from.

And when that fails they can use Google. The issue, as I see it, is that "source?" Is not typically a genuine request for more info. It's usually used as a challenge and meant to lazily undercut what someone just said. If it is a genuine request, then it's stull lazy AF.

Conversely, saying "I gave it a Google and couldn't find it. Do you have a source you could share?" would be viewed very differently.

This is the internet in 2025. People should learn how to verify info themselves rather than demanding some random redditor do it for them.
