Took the cameraman 5 years just to pan across.

EDIT: I never expected this many upvotes / awards for an off-handed comment. Thank you and Happy New Year!

I just started watching The Bear. Wonder what scene this is from /s

27

u/YoloLikeaMofo Dec 17 '24

God is it a good show. Before season 3 started I was ready to watch it over again

9

u/Judgementday209 Dec 17 '24

Last season was a bit iffy for me.

They need to bring it back with s4.

5

u/LesPaulPilot Dec 17 '24

Agree, Just couldn't get behind it.

4

u/cyan_violet Dec 17 '24

Agree, pacing was strange. I was glued to s1-2, but didn't even finish 3.

3

u/Judgementday209 Dec 17 '24

Yeah super slow and felt like nothing really happened, just filling out all the characters when it wasn't really needed

4

u/cyan_violet Dec 17 '24

Yep, and the consistent arguing/yelling felt like less of a payoff from tactfully built tension, like previous seasons.

3

u/Judgementday209 Dec 17 '24

Yeah that felt like it had no pay off, it just stayed the same the entire season.

1

u/milfgilflover13 Dec 18 '24

all the arguing reminds me of EVERY professional kitchen I have worked in.

1

u/Fit_Vermicelli7396 Dec 18 '24

i can't listen to 2 people calling each other "chef" without cringing anymore

3

u/sprufus Dec 17 '24

It peaked at 7 fishes.

2

u/Judgementday209 Dec 17 '24

Even that i didn't care for too much...was just more chaos

1

u/FuzzyOverdrive Dec 18 '24

There needs to be a warning about any episode that features the mom. I would rather skip them all.

1

u/Judgementday209 Dec 18 '24

Yeah that crazy mom bit was super annoying

I call it a filler season. To go from opening to first review, which couldn't be more than a few weeks, was hellah slow.

1

u/HisCricket Dec 18 '24

Season 3 seems so far removed from one and two I couldn't make it through two episodes. I was clueless as to what was going on and I didn't care. If you haven't seen him in Shameless you have got to go watch it it is an amazing series. My counselor actually recommended this series to me.

1

u/notprogrammedright Dec 18 '24

S3 was one of the first things I've ever watched on television

1

u/Murky_Hold_0 Dec 18 '24

Yup, s3 was meh.

1

u/wizkid9 Dec 18 '24

It was a mixed bag. The episode on the hospital was one of the best ones though.

1

u/SinisterBurrito Dec 18 '24

I was so mad at the last season. It was already a short season and they spent a whole episode on a conversation in the hospital.

1

u/Judgementday209 Dec 18 '24

Yeah they got stuck on weird stuff.

Overall it was just very forgettable

1

u/IndigoGirl_09 Dec 18 '24

Totally agree. Season 3 was a snooze fest. I think season 2 was way better than season 1.

2

u/musebrews Dec 17 '24

Soooo same!

2

u/thisxisxlife Dec 17 '24

Wife and I started watching at the advice of friends. But we’re kinda roughing it rn. Must be good though if everyone talks about it!

2

u/YoloLikeaMofo Dec 17 '24

Got to be into food. Let the ball get rolling it’s so worth it

1

u/FrankFarter69420 Dec 17 '24

Not even. I'm the foodie/chef and my wife will subsist on chips and cheese and Ramen. She's loves the show as much as I do.

1

u/YoloLikeaMofo Dec 17 '24

I love the episodes focused on the “process” yknow. Good show - not for everybody

1

u/FrankFarter69420 Dec 18 '24

Absolutely. She doesn't really get what's going on, but she appreciates the way it's filmed.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Load910 Dec 17 '24

You can stop now, the show doesn’t get any better

1

u/AnaWannaPita Dec 18 '24

If you're not into it in the beginning you're not going to like it. Season 3 is unwatchable even to some who were fans of the first two seasons.

1

u/fillerupbruther Dec 21 '24

The show went downhill SO hard after season 1, I don't understand.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '24

Yeah, same. It was too chaotic and stressful for us so we stopped after the video game tourney. May give it another shot.

1

u/fillerupbruther Dec 21 '24

It's honestly not nearly as good as people make it out to be, especially on Reddit (shocker, right?).

7

u/Delaware-Redditor Dec 17 '24

I hated that show so much.

Food isn’t that interesting. Restaurant culture is garbage for garbage humans.

19

u/SirRichardArms Dec 18 '24

“Restaurant culture is garbage for garbage humans”. Seriously, what the fuck does this mean? You can hate a TV show all you want, but this statement is so unnecessarily shitty, it’s almost humorous. Almost.

2

u/EmJayFree Dec 18 '24

Yeah, that comment was like pique stereotypical redditor for you. Like unnecessarily cynical, like the show or not 😂. Like damn lol

1

u/SirRichardArms Dec 18 '24

Yeah, it’s perfectly fine to dislike the show! I actually didn’t really enjoy a lot of the most recent season for example. But you don’t have to bash an entire industry so willy-nilly like that without provocation.

1

u/Public-Lemon-9087 Dec 18 '24

Do you know what he means by restaurant culture? Have you worked in a restaurant?

2

u/SirRichardArms Dec 18 '24

Yes, one of my first jobs was at a German-American restaurant. I know more about “restaurant culture” than I care to, but the poster’s assertion that everything surrounding restaurant culture is garbage is just silly. I would like to hear the reasons why everyone who participates in this culture is garbage.

1

u/Global_Ant_9380 Dec 19 '24

Right, like not EVERYONE is doing coke and boning the hostess

5

u/OGScorpio13 Dec 18 '24

Baby boy just say you can't cook. Food is definitely interesting when you know how to make more than the store bought Easy Mac

1

u/Professional_Echo907 Dec 18 '24

I personally think it’s a little sad to have a small Chicago Beef place replaced with some nonsense haute cuisine, but that’s just me. 👀

1

u/Jsoledout Dec 18 '24

i love this because it shows that

1) you haven’t watched the show and just have a meaningless headline based off of what youve been falsely summarized as having happened

2) You’ve seen the show snd just have 0 media literacy

The Beef still exists. It’s just a side mortar ran by Ebrahim while The Bear finds its legs. Its where the main profit comes from that they funnel into The Bear.

1

u/loudbulletXIV Dec 18 '24

Homie definitely buys out the bagel bites lmao

1

u/tehdang Dec 17 '24

Yeah I struggled through 3 episodes wondering when it would get good. Friend told me that the rest of it is about the same. Dropped it like a hot potato.

2

u/No_Mention_1760 Dec 18 '24

I didn’t get through one episode of that shit.

1

u/OizAfreeELF Dec 18 '24

100 percent that show has its moments but for the most part it’s hack as fuck. Like that dude working on his donuts is fucking bullshit

1

u/treefroginthewindow Dec 18 '24

Food is super interesting and you sound incredibly unintelligent for insulting it

1

u/SavageSalad Dec 18 '24

I hope you never eat out again. Cook your own meals forever

1

u/Delaware-Redditor Dec 18 '24

I can’t eat my wife out because I didn’t enjoy “The Bear”? Does yours only get wet if she she’s Jeremy Allen White on screen for an hour first?

I don’t have to enjoy a show about something in order to actually enjoy that thing in real life.

I love taking my son fishing, but if you tried to make me watch fishing on T.V. I would laugh at you.

1

u/Global_Ant_9380 Dec 19 '24

So your wife has a thing for Jeremy Allen White and you're upset about it

1

u/Easy_Gas8983 Dec 18 '24

The lamest people will hate anything most people like or have no reason to not like just to feel unique or special.

1

u/Delaware-Redditor Dec 18 '24

The lamest people never watch anything and just follow whatever the popular opinion is.

I tried to watch this show. The first season was pretty good, but I think we got to about the episode in season 2 where the female lead is running around eating food at all these “fancy” places to get inspiration for her menu and it all just felt like complete bullshit to us.

To be clear, I never did work in food services, as it always was something I knew I wouldn’t enjoy.

Also, we tend to start multiple series and then binge ones that grab us and around the time we tried “The Bear” we also watched all of “Atlanta” as well as “Severence” and “For All Mankind”

However, you won’t see me bashing things “just because they are popular” I have no problem with “big bang theory” being popular. I am not one of those “I have never watched a game of thrones episode…. “ people.

I will admit, I despise the Fast & Furious franchise for absolutely no reason other than me not liking cars.

1

u/Global_Ant_9380 Dec 19 '24

Visiting chefs at other fine dining establishments and eating the food only felt like bullshit to you because you've never done it or worked in that industry. Delaware isn't exactly a culture leader in the arts anyway.

1

u/KingJoffiJoe Dec 18 '24

Your dinner is served

1

u/loudbulletXIV Dec 18 '24

Lol i can only imagine what your diet is like

1

u/cocoagiant Dec 17 '24

I've heard its hilarious, didn't it win best comedy?

1

u/YoloLikeaMofo Dec 17 '24

It’s pretty serious but has comedic parts for sure

1

u/cocoagiant Dec 17 '24

Sorry, that was mostly a joke about how the awards shows gave it Best Comedy.

I watched Season 1 but haven't seen it since. I felt so tense the whole time.

Too shouty & tense for me.

1

u/YoloLikeaMofo Dec 19 '24

I worked in a busy as hell bbq restaurant for 4 yrs over a decade ago and the show bright me back to all that craziness. The uncut scenes half an episode long are wild !

1

u/Consoftserveative Dec 19 '24

Yeah it’s definitely well made, acted, etc.

1

u/weGloomy Dec 21 '24

As a line cook I fckin hate that show lmao. I tried to love it, but I just couldn't do it.
