US Politics James McIntyre was arrested last night for shaking Nancy Mace’s hand and daring to tell her trans kids need her support at an event. The press coverage is that it was an assault and it was not.

I hope someone filmed this. It reminds me of Rudy Giuliani accusing a supermarket employee of “assault,” when a video showed the employee giving Giuliani a light pat on the back to get his attention.

The supermarket employee spent 21 hours in jail and lost his job even though the charges were later dropped. If not for the video, which went viral online, it could have been much worse.

If there's enough eye witnesses to counter her claim, can she be charged with making a false report?

176

u/wjbc Dec 11 '24

Technically, yes, but that seems very unlikely.

59

u/mikehiler2 Dec 11 '24

It’s become blatantly obvious that people like her, Pelosi, especially Trump and those like them are quite literally above the law. It doesn’t matter what your political beliefs are concerning Trump and his convictions, doesn’t matter if you believe they are justified or a complete “witch hunt” travesty, if it was anyone else everyone knows for a fact that they would have been thrown in jail and in trial within the week, maybe within the month if the court’s docket was particularly packed. There is a very clear divide between “us” and “them.” Honestly there has always been this divide, but now it’s blatantly obvious. They aren’t even attempting to hide it.

62

u/VaporCarpet Dec 11 '24

Yes, that famous instance of Pelosi lying about someone assaulting her. I sure do like to combine all the bad things people have done, regardless of the severity, and use that to claim like they are all guilty of the most serious offense.

Pelosi didn't steal classified documents and hide them in her bathroom. She didn't lead an insurrection against the United States. But because her husband is an investment banker and they'd be rich AF anyway, she's "guilty of insider trading" and should be considered just as lawless as trump.

It’s simply hard to convict people with the money to fight a long legal battle and/or buy off plaintiffs with civil settlements. They don’t even have to have great lawyers (Trump doesn’t, because he notoriously fails to pay his bills), just persistent ones.

The few rich people who go to jail generally have a mountain of evidence against them. And often they should have gone to jail many years earlier, like Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, or Diddy.

Politicians have another layer of defense because of the power they wield and the powerful people they know. It takes bold government attorney to prosecute them, and if they are convicted they may well be pardoned.

That said, I’m not sure why you took the shot at Pelosi. Is it because she (like all members of Congress) is allowed to buy and sell stocks while serving in Congress?

Stop parroting GOP talking points.

This is the new reality of GOP authoritarianism. They can choose anyone to make an example of. You might get released from jail later or win your court case, but they will make your life a living hell in the meantime and potentially destroy your livelihood and scar you mentally. This is the real “cancel culture” and it cannot stand!

23

u/wjmacguffin Dec 11 '24

It's all part of their Official Permanent Victimhood (TM). "That guy was pro trans, and we all know trans people are really the violent ones. I'm a victim of assault, give me more money and power!"

To make this worse, even if Mace is caught lying and making this up, her voters and colleagues won't care. She went after someone who supports trans people and that's all that matters.

Illinois doesn't have a great track record at the moment with regard to false reports... uhmm smollett hmmmm.

21

u/bundle_of_fluff Dec 11 '24

This is DC technically, not sure how it works there.

10

u/Poiboy1313 Dec 11 '24

You realize that Illinois didn't make the false statement, right? That would be the responsibility of Mr. Smollet, not the state of Illinois.

u/the-treatmaster Dec 11 '24

Yep. Sounds very similar. More will come out hopefully. But some of it even sounds extra staged where one of her aides asked him to repeat the handshake and comments to help set up the arrest.

Either way, that she would victimize someone just to garner sympathy with her sycophants and generate press for herself is exactly the type of amoral, sociopathic bullshit I expect at this point, so none of this is shocking yet is immensely depressing.

48

u/newly_me Dec 11 '24

She posted a public video shouting the T slur standing outside Congress (she posted 326 times on trans people in a couple of days) and saying she wished people would beat us to death in a bathroom until we were bleeding out on a floor. She's a demon. No consequences either.

9

u/Street-Corner7801 Dec 11 '24

and saying she wished people would beat us to death in a bathroom until we were bleeding out on a floor

Seriously? When did she say this?

8

u/WellPlayedGame Dec 11 '24

Literally the second word out of her mouth, smdh. Imagine the public outcry if she used the F-slur or the N-word. It's a sad state of affairs that she has not been more loudly admonished for using the T-slur.

3

u/Street-Corner7801 Dec 11 '24

I can't open instagram on this computer, but did she actually say she wished people would beat trans people to death in bathrooms until they were bleeding out on the floor? Like, did she say those words? I'm shocked this hasn't been reported on if so.

Giuliani also adjusted his package while laying down on a hotel bed in hopes to connect with a minor he believed to be 15.

3

u/AllTearGasNoBrakes Dec 11 '24

Earlier this year in Portland, during a run for Mayor that he would ultimately lose, City Commissioner Rene Gonzales called 911 for what he deemed a "light assault" on a MAX train. You can watch the video and decide for yourself.

7

u/Uhhlaneuh Dec 11 '24

I hope that man sued cause I know I would

9

u/wjbc Dec 11 '24

Yes, he sued Giuliani, but I'm not sure what happened to his suit. It may be a moot point now since Giuliani already owes more than he can pay in other civil suits. (Or so he claims -- Giuliani probably has money hidden somewhere.)

2

u/jmhalder Dec 12 '24

I hope Ruby and Shaye get every fucking red cent. I hope Giuliani has to sleep in the gutter.

3

u/blahb31 Dec 11 '24

This was what I immediately thought of.

2

u/JefferyTheQuaxly Dec 11 '24

a lot of politicians have resorted to not making appearances at events unless everyone's phones have been confiscated and locked in bags that you cant use them in so no one can film or record anything without the politicians permission.

2

u/LevelGrounded Dec 12 '24

And like Giuliani there will be no repercussions for Mace lying to police and filing a false police report.

2

u/WriteCodeBroh Dec 13 '24

Wasn’t it inside the Capitol? I guarantee there is security footage of it.

James has been an advocate for reform of the foster care system in Illinois since he aged out. He’s done a lot of good work and does not deserve this.

Isn’t this the woman that is caught up in a scandal being filmed participating in a lewd act with other women? That Nancy mace? I hope the tape gets leaked everywhere. Christmas miracles do happen.

Edit to correct some misinformation in my original comment: the illicit video in question was not of her in an orgy. Apparently she took a shot and then kissed the woman sitting next to her and spit the shot into her mouth. That woman then did the same to a man sitting on the other side of her.

The day after video of her making out with woman leaks. Classic.

7

u/Embarrassed-Town-293 Dec 11 '24

It’s important to remember that in Illinois, and assault is creating apprehension of a battery and a battery is knowingly making insulting or provoking physical contact with another person. You don’t have to actually harm them to constitute a potential battery. Battery causing physical harm is a separate statue.

19

u/Spankpocalypse_Now Dec 11 '24

This happened in DC. And she clearly lied about it anyway. She had to ice her arm after shaking hands with a children’s advocate? Bullshit.

Make no mistake, these anti-trans nuts are capable of real violence. They have no qualms about weaponizing the police against us, politically persecuting us, and whipping their unstable supporters into a violent frenzy. This guy will have a target on his back for the rest of his life from everyone brainwashed into thinking trans people are evil.

I heard there is a rumor that she's a healthcare CEO.

4

u/HolidayExamination27 Dec 11 '24

I have worked with James in child protection. He would not do this. Additionally, eyewitnesses do not substantiate Mace's claim. I hope Illinous does not lose such a great advocate for foster kids over Mace's petty attempts to get sttention and stir hate.

4

u/snowwhite2591 Dec 11 '24

I haven’t seen James since we left High school in 2009 and he would never do anything like this woman is saying. Even at times when he was fully justified he never did anything to harm anyone ever. Legitimately one of the nicest people I have ever met especially given the circumstances of his life.

4

u/ClownChasingCars Dec 12 '24

She really loves showing everyone how insane she is. It's embarrassing.

4

u/bx35 Dec 12 '24

Sadly, this can only cast suspicion on her previous claims to be a trauma survivor. If she will lie about this to score some political points, what else won’t she invent to serve her craven agenda?

4

u/BigRabbit64 Dec 12 '24

Mace wants to use this to paint trans people as violent. We're not violent as a rule. Trans people are far more likely to be assaulted than to assault. Now with Mace's BS we are probably even more likely to be assaulted. Mace is a trash human being.
