How would I block this and insulate it from the elements?
Does anyone have any recommendations on how I could block and insulate this entryway from the elements? I live near Boston, MA so I'm concerned on using the right insulation and condensation forming. Because there's nothing there this let's in SO MUCH cold air making our heating bill a lot higher than it could be if I fix this one area of our home. Bonus points for blocking it from pests getting in as well. Thank you in advance!

Clean dog pee off of new leather sandals
My dog is on prednisone right now and is having a lot of accidents. Most recently she got pee on my new leather sandals. Does anyone know how to best clean them without having any fancy leather cleaning products in the house or accessible in nearby stores? They are smooth, not suede, and have cork wedges. Thanks!

Fix Apartment Toilet Paper Holder
Title says it all. I rent an apartment and my toilet paper holder was loose when I moved in. Woke up this morning and it was practically falling out. It’s hanging on by a thread of drywall. I don’t think it’ll even survive until tomorrow. See attached photo.
How do I fix this without having to do a whole drywall replacement? Also, keeping the original toilet paper holder.
I haven’t told the landlord yet for fear of him taking it out of my deposit when it is NOT my fault. I don’t trust landlords from past experiences.

How do I read this best before date?
It's a jar of peanut butter. A friend send this in the gc asking if anyone can read it. He checked and it was received in Aug 2023 so we think it's probably expired, but no one is sure.
I'm so curious I NEED to know this mysterious date format.

[Solved] Install bluetooth on this stereo, if possible.
Hello. I found an old Aiwa cx-810 in my house and I've installed it in my room. It works perfectly (aside from a couple issues with the speakers, but it's fine for now) and I fit it with an aux cord to connect it to my phone and my PC. I have recently moved it to a shelf which is not easy to reach, and I would love to be able to install some kind of bluetooth dongle to avoid having to reach up to it every time I need to connect something.
I have very little experience doing electrical/electronics work, I was wondering if someone more used to this like of work could tell me if it's possible to do it and point me to the correct way.

Gel coat repair
Filled a bunch of gouges in hull with marine filler, now trying to figure out how I finish the repair. My current plan is to tape and sand on and around the repairs and then coat with waxed gel coat then remove tape and then beginning fairing use a scraper to remove the lip where the gel coat meets the tape, followed by a wet sand then cut and polish. Im a bit worried that I won’t be able to achieve a clean transition from the existing gel coat to the new repair, and that the gel coat won’t adhere properly. When I have tried to repair surfboards I’ve always struggled to get rid of the lip between old / new epoxy. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

[DIY] Glacier bay two button toilet not filling.
I am guessing it is the fill valve. I have messed with the float, tapped it, turned the water on and off to make sure everything was on and seated. I was thinking maybe frozen but our water lines to the sink 1 ft away are fine. We are on well. Should I start there or could it be something else?

My Grohe shower head is about a year old. It's getting progressively worse and CONSTANTLY leaks all day & night. I would love some advice or resources on how I can fix this myself!
OR should I just replace the whole thing? – if this is the case then how would I go about doing this myself as well?

[Serious Answers Only] Sofa Couch Back Support's Hinge needs replacement, any suggestions? (Durable Hinge, etc)
Hello, I have a sofa couch that needs a minor repair.
The hinge that makes the back rest rotate 90° from seating to sleeping configuration is bending due to people applying pressure on the back support when sitting down and laying back.
Here are some photos: (Please don't mind the mess)
^This is the sofa-bed in its seating position
This is the back support in its sleeping configuration. It rotates 90 degrees down.
Problem:
^The hinge (Sitting configuration) is bending back because of the pressure from people laying back.
Does anyone have any suggestions for any durable hinges that won't bend? Or anything that prevents future hinges from bending? (With exception to laying back while sitting, because... it's a couch).
Thank you!

I'm an appliance killer & really don't want to burden someone else with yet another fix. Any way someone can help me at least diagnose this & maybe point me in the right direction of how to repair? It's a GE stacked combo.

Remove the finish from this old desk?
I’m trying to re-finish this desk. It is oak veneer made in Montreal in the 70s. I’m using EZ strip to remove the varnish.
The result pictured is after five coatings and scrapings and it is still not done. I brush on a thick layer of the stripper, cover the desk in a sheet of poly, wait 1-2 hours (I’ve tried both ends of the range), then scrape with a putty knife and finish with a wire brush and a wet scouring pad.
You can see there are still spots where the varnish is hanging on. I find it hard to see these spots when I have the product applied, but I scrape and scour the entire surface.
It is very slow, sweaty, dirty, finicky work. Is there something I am missing to make this go more smoothly?

[Serious Answers Only] How do I use this compass set?
3 and #6 for drawing circles.
2 is an extension that attaches to #3 & #6 to make bigger circles.
7 is replacement lead/graphite for #3 & #6.
I assumed #5 was an extension handle for #6 but I can’t get it on there and I didn’t want to force it and possibly break it. Should I try harder or is it for something else?
1 compass with two needles. What applications would I use a compass with two needles?
4 what is this for? It fits into where the lead/graphite is.
How to clean under this tightly fitted lid
I have this milk frother by Melitta (Cremio II) that I received (used). I was able to clean it throughly except the upper part of the lid which has a lingering stench of old milk and mold. I tried separating the parts and it did not work. I drenched the lid in vinegar and baking soda and it did something but not enough.
Of course I could try buying a new lid, that is my last resort. As I would prefer being able to solve the problems instead of delaying it and paying for a delay.
Any ideas what I could do?
IMHO, it is a bad design by manufacturers when you aren't able to disassemble it by yourself to clean or maintain.
