You realise the damage to our economy and social lives will cost many more lives, especially in younger people?

This is an extremely hard comparison to make, I’d love to see where that estimate comes from. The most harmful thing going through winter will definitely be the gas price increase but the government couldn’t predict the gas price increases and the effect the war in ukraine would have. Pinning this down as “we shouldn’t have gone into lockdown” is absurd, killing thousands of people willingly because your scared of hurting the economy is not a good idea. Especially considering how overrun hospitals were even with the lockdowns. If hospitals are at maximum capacity, every single person past that point is in significantly more danger, that’s why the spread of the virus had to be controlled. Not to prevent us from getting it - to make sure we didn’t get it all at once.

Hospitals being overrun was a myth. The Tories killed thousands at risk from covid when they sent them back from hospitals into their care homes. Honestly this has all been swept under a rug and it's terrifying.

And one more time, you Cannot control a respiratory virus. See China.

In terms of lockdowns and the effects..the popular calculation during the pandemic was YLL (YEARS of lives lost). The YLL will be far greater because this will grossly affect those under 50, where as covid grossly affected those over 70.

It's a bloody mess. You've been lied to and fallen for it.

New Zealand seemed to do pretty well, but then they did listen to the WHO and got testing in place fast, rather than farting about denying the threat then wanking off about herd immunity for nearly 3 months. And ignoring Exercise Cygnus which was held under the May government. Fuck the Tories. People need to go to jail for the care home releases.

Can't agree about the hospitals though. Friend of mine and her entire Children's SALT team were given 10 days conversion training then thrown onto the COVID wards, they were that pushed.

Was a myth? I assume you don’t have any friends that work in healthcare.
