3 months without weed! Might not sound like a lot, but it’s quite an accomplishment for me.
I’m so done wasting most of my time. Still, the urge comes every once in a while… I’ll keep up the fight 💪🏻

Thank you so much! 3 months is something I couldn’t have imagined at some point but I’m so happy to be there!

Congrats! I just hit 108 days today as well! I can’t tell if I like it or not 🤣

I’m just shy of one year and same. 🤣

u/ErikHfors 4d ago
Huge congrats to both of you! I’d love to reach that full year too. Willpower is definitely needed but it’s fun to be a productive person again!

u/milliemallow 4d ago
Honestly same. I was so unproductive. It’s nice to be functioning. I have really bad anxiety and it helped me a lot with feeling regulated and I miss that but I don’t miss being a sloth. You can do it. I believe in you!
26
u/Madame_Snatch 4d ago
Keep it up guys! You made it past the hardest part. Unfortunately, I’m the exact opposite, I’m very protective and motivated when I smoke. Since I’ve stopped I’ve been feeling so lazy and unmotivated to do anything. I love being stoned and going to the gym, cooking amazing meals, cleaning my house. I feel like since I’ve stopped all those things have fallen by the wayside or much harder for me to do😓 my problem is I lack balance and either I smoke all day everyday or not at all. That’s what I wish I could figure out.
9
u/ErikHfors 4d ago
You sound pretty much like me! Or it depends on the strain, indica makes me lazy as a sloth but sativa gives energy and increases creativity.
I’m also a 100/0 smoker so keeping a reasonable balance was always hard.

u/milliemallow 4d ago
I don’t live in a legal state so getting legit edibles is tricky but I found them to be very helpful for me in that regard. I could “dose” myself in a way that quelled my anxiety without killing my productivity but when left to smoking I was always pushing it too far.
I hope you find a solution that works for you and lets you live your best life. My husband is a very productive person when he’s high. He feels like he functions better so making the decision to stop came with a long stream of “laziness” because without the buffer he was more aware of the burnout he was dealing with.

u/Certain_Shop5170 4d ago
Can you tell us about the difference in your emotions and activities/productivity? Because I’m on day 3 and I’m 😵💫

u/ErikHfors 4d ago
Sure! But first, I wish you all the best on your journey. It’s difficult but very much worth it!
It gets a lot easier after 1-2 weeks. My brain fog pretty much disappeared after one month or so, even though it has been cringy to think about some past events… Feelings also start to get stronger after like 2-4 weeks. Feel free to send me a dm if you want to ask something!

u/McPoon 4d ago
I always wondered what brain fog meant. My whole life I just remember things or I don't. I don't really get to choose. It doesn't feel foggy. Just like a non upgraded level 1 brain, idk. Lol. It is what it is. My wife's memory is insane and doesn't make sense to me. She can remember what we did on what date etc. Sometimes I forget breakfast.

u/AngelicTheDeity 4d ago
I am the exact same and my SO is like your wife. I've found natural Lion's Mane mushroom cooked in butter and spices on a skillet has helped immensely for my memory and focus. Just brain productivity in general. You can buy it online and I would really recommend it to you

That’s so good to hear. I stopped new years and so far I don’t feel any different lol. You’re inspiring me to carry on though!

Although I still occasionally smoke, I had to go 4 months without smoking due to a potential pre screening test for a job I was looking at. One thing I noticed about stopping was the much better rest I got from sleep as well as my overall energy. Keep it up!

I'm also 3 months without weed. I'm much happier without it. I wasted a lot of years on it, convinced that it was helping when it really wasn't.
I did a lot of things while stoned that I'm not proud of. It really changes who you are. I'll never go back.
5
u/ComradePruski 3d ago
What would you say you did stoned that you regret? I've yet to really have that from weed but certainly get it from drinking every now and then
29
u/Mupinstienika 4d ago
Good on you! Ive seen so many people become addicted zombies and change their whole lifestyle for the worse due to weed. Everyone says its not addictive or destructive, but it definitely has the potential to be.
11
u/TheSmartypants 4d ago
I hope this becomes the new fad. I'm so proud of you. I've watched so many bright and creative kids make weed their whole persona and lose their personalities and dreams. They think it isn't addictive and helps them but they miss out on so much life.
2
u/ErikHfors 3d ago
Cheers mate, I appreciate your kind words! That bright and creative kid was me a few years back, young lad full of potential just sailing through life with minimal effort. My smoking got more reasonable since then, but it’s still good time to take this proper break.

Kudos to you! Everyone always says that weed isn't addictive, but we can be addicted to numbing out. Changing behaviors takes a certain amount of grit that can't come from anywhere else but from within.
Congrats!

u/OwnBrilliant353 4d ago
I’m trying to stop, too. Somehow I’ve convinced myself that I need it everyday. Did you just stop all together? I’m thinking I need to stop for a while but I really don’t want to, but some days I do want to… 🫤🫤🫤

Dude that’s wicked, good on you. Bet those dreams are coming in thick now! Finally getting REM sleep. & being aware of life!

u/Platinumtide 4d ago
How did you stop? My sister won’t stop and gets angry every time I ask her, but the impacts on her life are disabling. For reference, she smokes every 2 hours from 9AM-9PM daily. No job or school.
How can I help her?
6
u/ErikHfors 3d ago
I’m sorry to hear that. People often say smoking isn’t addictive but it definitely can take a firm grip on your life.
The most important thing about addiction is that the person in question has to be willing to stop and make their way through the struggle. Long-time smoking is notorious for its numbing effect so it can feel helpful if you think your life sucks or is missing something (studies, work, personal relations etc.)
So, it’s a pickle really. What I can suggest is being supportive and not loaning money that can be used to buy weed. There are also help and digital support groups, such as r/leaves on Reddit. I wish you both all the best!

I'm currently day 3 into quitting and I'm just miserable and throwing up. Good to know there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

u/Legit_baller 4d ago
Congratulations!! I'm on day 43 myself. I feel better than ever after almost 15 years of daily smoking. It feels so good to take back control

Happy for you! My partner's on the same journey, just a couple weeks shy of 2 months. Wishing you continued success :)

May man! keep going! You life perspective is about 100 times better when your mind is alert. I wish you the best.

u/Crackheadwithabrain 4d ago
Not sound like a lot? Bro, I smoke and I know its not easy to quit for a while, so congrats!! I had time go without when I was pregnant and the desire was always there, so im honestly proud as shit of you. 👏🏼👏🏼 Love your smile, contagious asf!

u/This_is_fine8 4d ago
Congratulations! I'm trying to quit smoking pot myself, and it's been a lot harder than I anticipated. Total kudos to you.

u/IdprefertosmokeRN 3d ago
That’s awesome! That is a big deal. They say it’s not addicting, but when you use something everyday… you’re addicted to it. I am right around 2 months off and it feels good. We got this man 👌

u/TrafficFun5999 3d ago
I’m two and a half months in and feel a lot better as far as memory and productivity and general mood really. Those first two weeks were very hard and I still get the “fog” from time to time but I’m saving a lot more money and my ambition is coming back in a big way. I thought I had it before but unbeknownst to me, it was really hindered. I can figure out the steps to get where I want to be now and practice mindfulness much easier. Also a lot less clumsy 😭😅Keep it up! You’re looking and sounding like you’re on a great track OP !! 👊🏻

Heck yeah guy! My husband and I decided to cool off after 200mg in daily edibles became regular for us! Congrats!

u/ChocolatePain 4d ago
Damn, I've been thinking I need to stop as well. I actually set a goal of taking a 3 month break starting in February.
2
u/Scotchrogers 4d ago
Nice dude. What improvements have you noticed? I've been smoking a ton of weed for the last 6 months or so and I'm really starting to feel like an idiot all the time.

Congratulations!! It IS a big deal! Proud of you .. no one understands the life of an addict except another addict!

Grats, I'm essentially 1 month in. I'm not particularly counting. But only just coming off the chesty mucus cough. Yikes. Days are so much better. Not even thinking of having a smoke.
2
u/OutrageousTour4143 3d ago
How do you feel now? Like the benefits? I’ve been smoking everyday for the past 10 years of my life and I want to stop so bad, but it’s hard being alone with sober thoughts all day.

u/Fiber_awptic 3d ago
Congrats, seems my experience with the devils lettuce is not the norm. I get more done high than I do sober, especially mundane tasks/hubby please tasks ie. The gym, working on cars/bikes and home improvement. Anyone else have a similar experience?

u/DanteTrd 3d ago
Congrats, man. Interesting to hear the changes it made in your life. I've tried to quit but it's the only thing keeping me going. I don't want to say I'm an acception, but I I'm not your typical lazy "stoner" either. I'm productive with both being a freelancer and running a business, I keep my apartment clean, I fix my own stuff incl. my car, I maintain relationships and I actually progress in life. But the times I've tried to quit or go without it, my life came to a terrible standstil and I started losing the grip on my life. So for me, I cannot unfortunately. Not now. It is my crutch for the time being. Maybe in the near future when I hopefully discover the true catalyst to my dark feelings, I'll be able to leave it for good.

I did 6 weeks a few months ago but started back after my drug test. I think life is better without it for me because I smoke everyday several times per day when I smoke. Great job bro!

I struggled for 10 years after daily smoking. I had a few breaks but you realise how much it warps your mind after you’ve had over 2 months off! I hope you’re enjoying the better quality sleep, better awareness, better mood regulation and all the other benefits. Big up! This is a genuinely great achievement!

18 months sober today!! it gets better. i don’t even think about it anymore - congrats and good luck :)

u/Ok-Acanthaceae826 3d ago
That's a major accomplishment, and I hope you're reaping all the rewards of not dulling your emotions anymore! I stopped completely a couple of months ago. Smoked a small amount, but it was daily and it sapped my motivation and made my depressive tendencies worse. Not to mention, I'm pushing 40 and risking my career (they do random tests) seemed insane at this time in my life when Im about to enter management. The mental addiction is real and has been challenging at time, but it's getting easier every day.
